AskYourUsers.com Launches Marketplace to Connect Businesses With On Demand Micro-Consultants

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwire) — 04/19/12 — San Francisco startup AskYourUsers today announced the invite-only beta launch of its professional marketplace which connects businesses that seek feedback with LinkedIn members who are available for hire as anonymous micro-consultants. Businesses can request micro-consulting from people who use specific products, services and software, those with unique hobbies, or people with expertise in specialized fields.

“The flexibility and targeting of AskYourUsers.com enables businesses to conduct qualitative online research quickly and cost-effectively with the goal of eliminating 90% of the time and effort they would otherwise spend seeking the feedback and advice they need,” says Amelia Dunne, co-founder of AskYourUsers. “We are leveraging widely used social technology to simplify the current inefficient process used to validate ideas, conduct usability tests, hold focus groups, and collect opinions from specific target audiences, while also making it easy for people to get paid for their feedback.”

AskYourUsers is the first company to systematically leverage the data collected by LinkedIn to create professionally targeted part-time consulting jobs that allow anonymity. Any person with a LinkedIn account can become a micro-consultant at AskYourUsers.com and get paid for quick consultations at an hourly rate they define.

Using a questionnaire format, businesses customize questions and tasks to be completed by micro-consultants. Along with the feedback, which is provided via screencast or written answers, businesses receive a redacted profile of each micro-consultant they hire. Company names and personally identifiable information are excluded from the profiles given to businesses. AskYourUsers.com demographic filters are customizable by businesses and include age, gender, location, computer proficiency, industry, job title, and any additional keywords or requirements needed.

“There are very few market research tools available that are truly entrepreneur-friendly,” says co-founder Chris Bumgardner. “We found that the time, cost and difficulty of getting unbiased feedback from appropriate sources was inexplicably inefficient, and we-re changing that.”

During the invite-only beta phase, customers will be able to use all features of the site without restricted access. Micro-consultants can request an invite to join at.
