Foxit(R) Delivers Complete PDF Creation Solution in Free Foxit Reader

FREMONT, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/16/13 — Foxit® Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, editing, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents, today announced a new version of its flagship PDF reader, , providing both a consumer and enterprise edition. Foxit Reader-s success and popularity has resulted in over 150 million downloads; making it the second most used PDF technology in the industry. Now organizations can standardize on a proven PDF creation solution enterprise-wide, allowing everyone to create their own PDF documents. Other new capabilities in Foxit Reader 6.0 include a new user interface toolbar, PDF Sign, PDF portfolio support, stamp capabilities, Evernote® integration to improve collaboration workflows, enhanced Microsoft® Active Directory® Rights Management Service (AD RMS) integration, and more.

Details of the new capabilities in Foxit Reader 6.0 include:

Foxit Reader provides a complete, highly accurate, and industry compliant PDF creation solution, allowing IT to provide a standard offering for PDF creation, reading, and annotation. Foxit Reader-s PDF creation solution includes:

One-click PDF creation from Microsoft Word®, PowerPoint®, and Excel®.

High performance PDF conversion from hundreds of file types by:

Dragging and dropping the document into Foxit Reader.

Using the Foxit Reader Create From File capability.

Right mouse clicking on the file.

Convert hardcopy documents into PDF with the Create From Scanner functionality.

Extend any application with print capabilities to include PDF conversion through the included Foxit Reader PDF Printer (PDF print driver).

Cut and paste content via the Windows clipboard into a new PDF by using the From Clipboard feature.

“Adding a complete and high quality PDF creation solution into the Foxit Reader changes the game,” said Alan Fowler, who has used this software since its inception. “I believe it has taken PDF readers to another level.”

Foxit Reader updated its user interface with a ribbon-based toolbar based on Microsoft Office 2013 (Office 15) style design, providing users with a familiar user experience. A ribbon is an interface which provides graphical command buttons organized in tabs based on function. It is a more intuitive and efficient way for users to find, comprehend, and execute commands with a minimum number of mouse clicks and dramatically reduces the need to resort to trial and error or having to read the user manual.

For existing Foxit Reader users who prefer traditional pull-down menus, Foxit Reader can still be used in Classic Mode.

“The new ribbon toolbar is very good and has a more modern, cleaner look. It will be easy to use for anyone familiar with other current office software,” said Roger Lill, a business consultant in the construction industry. “The ability to create a PDF and sign forms from within Foxit Reader are valuable additions.”

PDF Sign allows users to sign documents with their own handwriting. PDF Sign signatures can be created from an image of your signature or by writing it yourself on touch enabled desktop systems or tablets. Users can create multiple signatures, for example, a full signature and an initial signature. Users can quickly and easily manage, place, and apply these signatures — enabling effortless PDF document signing.

Foxit Reader allows users to create and insert stamps into their PDF documents and forms. Stamp functionality includes:

Insert stamps from a choice of pre-made stamps. Examples of pre-made stamps include Approved, Sign Here, Confidential, Draft, and more.

Create and insert your own static custom stamps.

Create and insert your own dynamic stamps. Dynamic stamps consist of an image and a changeable text field. A common example of a changeable text field is a time stamp consisting of the time and date.

A PDF portfolio is a PDF made up of a collection of multiple files, which can include both PDF files and non-PDF files such as Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or images. Foxit Reader can open and read PDF portfolios and perform searches either within a single file or across all the PDF files in the portfolio.

Evernote is a unified collection of apps that help people remember everything, get things done, and communicate effectively. Evernote runs on desktops and mobile devices. Foxit Reader users can now create a PDF as an attachment to an Evernote note. Foxit Reader already supports integration with Facebook® and Twitter® in a previous release, providing a strong platform to share information on social networks.

The optional Foxit RMS Plug-in allows Foxit Reader users to encrypt (protect) and decrypt (unprotect) AD RMS 2.0 complaint protected PDF files. As a result,

“By providing free PDF creation capabilities to its 150 million and growing user base, Foxit Reader 6.0 enables everyone in the enterprise to the home office to create their own PDF documents,” said Frank Kettenstock, VP of Marketing at Foxit Corporation. “This release shows once again why Foxit Reader is the best PDF reader due to its small size, high performance, and feature richness.”
