Cobra Announces General Availability of Cobra AirWave

CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwired) — 05/21/13 — (NASDAQ: COBR), a leading designer and marketer of award-winning mobile and consumer electronics, today announced availability information for Cobra AirWave, a compact portable music bridge that allows users to wirelessly connect their Bluetooth®-enabled media devices to older generation home stereo systems, car stereos, or standalone speakers.

The Cobra AirWave is used by pairing a smartphone, tablet, or mp3 player to the AirWave unit, which acts as a wireless bridge, allowing the user to stream audio via Bluetooth® to Cobra AirWave, which then transmits the signal older home or car stereo systems via standard input jacks. This wireless connection offers users the freedom to roam away from the stereo and control their music from up to 33 feet away and eliminates the need to dock the device on the speakers or tether the device via cable.

The Cobra AirWave receiver connects to stereo equipment utilizing either a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (headphone jack) cable, 3.5mm to RCA cable, or USB to micro-USB cable. All cabling options are included with the purchase of AirWave. The AirWave can be powered by standard USB outlets or through the built-in Lion polymer rechargeable battery, which provides ten to twelve hours of music playback. Now users can combine the compatibility and convenience of today-s Bluetooth®-enabled digital music players with their investment in existing stereo systems at a small fraction of the cost of newer systems.

“Many consumers have invested thousands of dollars into home or car stereo systems that still sound great, but they simply predate the advent of Bluetooth and the myriad devices today designed to stream music files wirelessly, so there-s a disconnect,” said Cobra Director of Marketing, Chris Kooistra. “Cobra AirWave solves this problem simply and affordably by inserting itself into the middle of transmission, receiving digital audio files wirelessly and then sending to older systems via traditional analog cables. At this price point AirWave is an incredibly cost-effective way to upgrade every older generation stereo system to today-s new wireless standard.”

The Cobra AirWave will be available May 21, 2013 at Amazon.com and for a retail price of $39.95.
