Instacart Launches New Grocery Delivery Option — With Instacart Plus, Getting Groceries Delivered Can Be Less Expensive Than Going to the Store Yourself

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/13/13 — , the only service that can deliver groceries from multiple local stores within an hour, announced today a new addition to its service. In addition to choosing from local stores such as Safeway, Trader Joe-s, Whole Foods and Costco, customers will be able to choose an Instacart Plus option, which offers a wide variety of national-brand grocery items at lower-than-store prices.

“Thousands of San Franciscans already know that Instacart is the most convenient option for in San Francisco,” said Apoorva Mehta, CEO and founder of Instacart. “With Instacart Plus, we are also now the least expensive option for grocery shopping, period. It-s cheaper than going to the store yourself.”

How does it work? Instacart keeps tabs on pricing for items not just at its usual stores, but also at discount stores in the community, which often offer the lowest prices. When customers shop on Instacart Plus, they can choose from over 10,000 items including frozen foods, meats, produce and national-brand packaged goods and know that they will be getting better prices than at the stores they normally visit. Just like other stores on Instacart, customers will be able to choose from one-hour, two-hour or scheduled delivery options.

No other area grocery delivery service offers customers the option of shopping from multiple stores in one order, and now, none can offer a lowest-price option like Instacart Plus.

Consumers can sign up for their free Instacart accounts at . The service is currently available in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Sunnyvale. Members access the Instacart Plus option in the dropdown of store choices on the upper left of their home screen.
