Watchful Software Announces RightsWATCH Release 4.8 to Extend BYOD and Collaboration Security

MEDFORD, NJ and LISBON, PORTUGAL — (Marketwired) — 06/18/13 — Watchful Software, a leading provider of data-centric information security solutions, announced today the release of RightsWATCH Version 4.8. The latest version of the data-centric protection suite adds new levels of security for the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend sweeping the industry, allowing enterprises and users to participate more fully in advanced secure messaging and information protection on mobile devices and smartphones. In addition, RightsWATCH 4.8 enhances the watermarking and fingerprinting capabilities of the product and deepens integration with MS SharePoint, strengthening RightsWATCH-s ability to classify data, mediate and control access to data based on “need to know” privileges in this popular collaboration environment.

“The emergence of intelligent mobile devices and smartphones has turned the concept of a -secure network perimeter- upside down. No longer is corporate information contained solely on secure, managed servers, storage, and computer devices,” states Charles Foley, Watchful Software-s CEO. “Now, some of the most vital and sensitive corporate information travels the globe on the same device as social networking and games, yet needs enterprise-class protection.”

RightsWATCH 4.8 can seamlessly extend encryption technology from Microsoft-s AD RMS, delivering persistent encryption protection to sensitive data on mobile devices and smartphones. Data classification and detailed rights handling policies are enforced even if users are reading classified email messages on smartphones or tablets, such as the iPhone, the iPad, or even BlackBerry and Android devices.

RightsWATCH 4.8 is also designed to allow multiple watermarking and fingerprinting configurations to best serve the heterogeneous enterprise-s needs. Thus, enterprises are able to enforce multi-level security and mandatory access control, provide access to data on a “need to know” basis, and achieve regulatory compliance.

“Data classification plays a vital role in securely managing highly sensitive data, especially in a collaborative environment. This new release of RightsWATCH provides an easy-to-use and flexible data classification solution for MS SharePoint users, which enforces data access controls by comparing a data classification label with a user-s security clearance,” explains Rui Melo Biscaia, Director of Product Development at Watchful Software.
