Natera Selects 4medica for Lab Connectivity and Expanded Customer Access

CULVER CITY, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/24/13 — , provider of the industry-s leading cloud Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) clinical integration platform, announced today that Natera has selected 4medica-s LabHub connectivity platform and Lab4 portal, to make tests more widely available to commercial testing laboratories and private physicians. San Carlos, CA-based Natera operates a CLIA-certified laboratory that provides a host of preconception and prenatal genetic testing services.

“We wanted to make our tests widely available and easy to access — and we wanted to do it quickly,” said Natera Chief Technology Officer, Jonathan Sheena. “But when we started looking at creating a gateway for our customers — especially our commercial lab partners — we realized how fragmented the whole connectivity process was. Doing it ourselves was untenable. 4medica provided both the portal and the integration services needed to implement it. They had us up and running in two months.”

4medica-s LabHub connectivity platform connects to both laboratory information management (LIM) systems and third party electronic medical record (EMR) systems quickly, reducing expensive interface development and ongoing support costs. It provides outreach connectivity to physician offices via 4medica-s Lab4 outreach solution. Developed by physicians specifically for laboratories, LabHub will allow Natera to focus on its core business, while expanding market access to its products.

“We are pleased that one of the country-s most successful and fastest growing specialty testing providers has allowed us to support them in their mission to help families conceive and deliver healthy babies, and we look forward to assisting them in their continued growth,” said Oleg Bess, M.D., 4medica-s CEO and Chairman.

4medica-s Integrated Electronic Health Record (4medica iEHR®), the industry-s leading cloud SaaS clinical integration platform, helps healthcare organizations of diverse types create a seamless view of the patient care experience and drive EHR adoption. 4medica connects over 100 institutional facilities including hospitals, health systems, physicians, laboratories and radiology and pathology clinics; more than 30,000 physicians use its products.

Natera is a genetic testing company that has developed a proprietary bioinformatics-based technology (NATUS) to deliver accurate and comprehensive high-throughput testing for reproductive indications from tiny quantities of DNA. Natera operates a CLIA-certified laboratory in San Carlos, Calif., providing a host of preconception and prenatal genetic testing services. Test offerings include pre-implantation genetic diagnosis to identify chromosomal anomalies or inherited genetic conditions in embryos generated during an IVF cycle; products-of-conception testing following miscarriage to rapidly and extensively analyze fetal chromosomes in order to understand the cause of the pregnancy loss; non-invasive prenatal testing to determine paternity; carrier screening tests to detect whether parents carry genetic variations that may result in disease in the child; and Panorama, a safe, simple test for pregnant women that identifies the most common chromosomal anomalies in a fetus as early as nine weeks. Natera-s PreNATUS clinical trial for non-invasive screening of fetal chromosomal anomalies is funded by the NIH and is being conducted by the leaders in maternal-fetal medicine in the United States.
