Midokura Announces Integration With Apache CloudStack

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/25/13 — , a global startup focused on network virtualization, today announced the integration of its flagship technology with . The integration is available now.

“The Apache CloudStack community welcomes new additions to the growing list of technologies that CloudStack can manage,” said Chip Childers, Vice President of Apache CloudStack. “We are pleased to see Midokura-s development of a CloudStack plugin for MidoNet, and look forward to their continued progress on the project.”

MidoNet is a disruptive network virtualization technology that virtualizes the network stack for cloud platforms. Launched the fall of 2012 to the U.S. market, MidoNet is a distributed, decentralized, multi-layer software-defined virtual network solution specifically designed for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Midokura-s unique approach not only adds automation that significantly reduces the human cost (OPEX) of managing the network, but also impacts the overall economics of cloud computing (CAPEX) by simplifying network requirements.

Apache CloudStack, a top-level project of the Apache Software Foundation, is a leading open source software designed to deploy and manage large networks of virtual machines as a highly available, highly scalable IaaS cloud computing platform.

The new MidoNet-Apache CloudStack integration offers more scalable routing functionality to Midokura customers, which can be a bottleneck for cloud deployments. What-s more, MidoNet offers multi-tenant L2 and L3 isolation, as well as NAT support.

“We view Apache CloudStack as a leading open source platform, so we are pleased to offer a tightly integrated solution which gives CloudStack customers the ability to take advantage of the MidoNet network virtualization solution,” said Dan Mihai Dumitriu, co-founder and CEO of Midokura. “The major benefits of the joint solution will be increased scalability, functionality and management of the network layer, along with a simpler approach to network design.”

Midokura is a global startup focused on network virtualization. Founded in 2010, the team has a pedigree including Amazon and Google, and has spent more than three years building MidoNet, a complete overlay network virtualization solution that integrates with cloud platforms, such as OpenStack and Apache CloudStack. Midokura has offices in San Francisco, Tokyo, Lausanne and Barcelona, and is on the web at .
