Tele2 Norway selects Ericsson for nationwide 4G rollout

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — (Marketwired) — 06/26/13 —

* Ericsson selected to build nationwide 2G, 3G and 4G networks in Norway

* Meets Norwegian subscribers- expectations and demand for higher speed
and capacity, enabling more data-intense applications and services

* Deal includes Ericsson RBS 6000 family of base stations, software
network upgrades as well as support and deployment services

Tele2 Norway and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) have signed an agreement for next-
generation nationwide coverage. Under the contract Ericsson will also
upgrade and expand Tele2-s existing 2G and 3G networks in Norway, becoming
the main vendor for the radio access solutions for all standards. The
agreement supports Tele2 Norway-s strategy to advance its market position,
be in the forefront and move quickly with its new offerings to consumers.

The deal includes multi-standard radio base station equipment from the
Ericsson RBS 6000 family, LTE RAN software, upgrade of existing 2G and 3G
access network software and upgrade of core solutions. Services will also
be a key part of the upgrade.

Robert Puskaric, President of Region Northern Europe and Central Asia,
Ericsson says: “We started a strategic partnership with Tele2 in Norway in
2008 and this development is an important milestone. Ericsson will now
become the main nationwide network partner for 2G and 3G expansion, as well
as build-out of 4G. We are committed to provide enhanced mobile experience
for Tele2-s subscribers across the country.”

The Norwegian government is planning to hold a national frequency auction
in December 2013, aiming to secure better competition in the Norwegian
mobile market.

The recently published Ericsson Mobility Report predicts that in five years
60 percent of the world-s population will to be covered by LTE. Ericsson
has delivered more than 150 LTE/EPC networks worldwide, of which more than
80 have gone live commercially.
