Xirrus Demonstrates the Power of Wireless Networks at Nebraska Educational Technology Association Conference

THOUSAND OAKS, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/27/13 — Xirrus, the leader in high-performance wireless networks, today announced another successful Wi-Fi deployment at the Nebraska Educational Technology Association (NETA) 2013 Conference. Xirrus was selected to provide high-density, high-performance wireless access for more than 2500 educators, administrators, and superintendents, representing a four-state region.

“The NETA conference is the most attractive educational technology event in the Midwest, providing appropriate technology services and product awareness to the educational community,” says Bob Goeman, past-president of NETA. “Our association brings together individuals of a common thread: educators who understand technology has a growing presence in the classroom. By providing our attendees with seamless, ubiquitous Wi-Fi throughout the conference, Xirrus allowed us to demonstrate firsthand how disruptive technology, like wireless networking, improves the learning experience.”

The conference, a three-day event in April of each year, depends on Xirrus Wireless Arrays to support more than 1500 simultaneous connections and 60,000 square feet of conference space. Event coordinators decided to deploy 14 Arrays to cover a large keynote room, with a 1600-person capacity. In addition, attendees used the network to support the wireless demands of 90 vendor booths and 16 breakout rooms, which presented sessions on BYOD, 1:1, digital citizenship, and other topics promoting technology to support quality teaching and learning.

“With new educational initiatives such as the Common Core Standards, E-Rate 2.0, Smarter Balanced Consortium, and most recently, ConnectED, wireless networking has become a major focus of conversation among the educational community,” says Bruce Miller, vice president of product marketing at Xirrus. “The deployment of Xirrus Wireless Arrays at the NETA conference reflects how technology and education intersect. We are proud to serve educational conferences like NETA, which inform educators how to leverage technology to improve the learning process for the modern student.”

Goeman added: “We surveyed our attendees at the end of the conference, and we got an overwhelming amount of positive feedback about the wireless network. This means that I never needed to explain the benefits of a great wireless network — they experienced it. A wireless experience like the one that Xirrus delivers gets educators thinking: -I wonder what my students could do with this?-“
