Wilocity Joins AllSeen Alliance as Founding Member to Connect Internet of Things

SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/10/13 — , the leading developer of 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless chipsets based on the 802.11ad standard, today announced that it has joined the AllSeen Alliance as a founding member. The AllSeen Alliance, also announced today, is the broadest cross-industry consortium to date to advance adoption and innovation in the Internet of Everything in homes and industry. Wilocity-s next generation tri-band Wi-Fi from Wilocity with data rates up to 5 Gbps will dramatically increase wireless speed and improve interoperability between devices, fostering the next generation of wireless networks.

Wi-Fi solutions from Wilocity integrate the multi-gigabit performance of the 802.11ad operating in the 60 GHz spectrum band and previous Wi-Fi versions including 802.11a/g/n/ac that operates in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. 802.11ad offers wireless with speeds more than 10 times faster than mainstream Wi-Fi and much higher in dense Wi-Fi environments. Wilocity will contribute technology that will be included in the AllSeen open source SDK and code base of service frameworks that enable such fundamental requirements as discovery, pairing, message routing and security, ensuring interoperability among even the most basic devices and systems.

“Wilocity tri-band Wi-Fi is a perfect complement to AllSeen as it provides the needed performance, capacity, and interoperability to enable the instantaneous seamless sharing of information across devices and networks,” said Mark Grodzinsky, vice president of marketing at Wilocity. “Collaborating with the member companies of the AllSeen Alliance, Wilocity will provide technology for unparalleled wireless performance in the most challenging densely deployed networks that will be central to enabling the Internet of Everything.”

The AllSeen open source framework allows ad hoc systems to seamlessly discover, dynamically connect and interact with nearby products regardless of brand, transport layer, platform or operating system. Through AllSeen, devices of virtually any specification or form factor can be connected and able to communicate.

“To fully enable the Internet of Everything will require increased wireless connectivity and performance in the home as well as in the enterprise,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director of The Linux Foundation, home to the AllSeen Alliance. “We see Wilocity-s expertise in 60 GHz as an important ingredient to meeting that need. We welcome Wilocity-s contributions to the AllSeen Alliance, enabling connected performance in dense environments, communication through networks and connectivity to displays, and opening the way to new use cases and applications.”

Founded in 2007, Wilocity is the leading developer of 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless chipsets, allowing revolutionary performance and capacity by enabling a tenfold increase compared to legacy Wi-Fi. The company is committed to making wireless the ubiquitous connectivity solution for mobile platforms everywhere — where wireless is simply faster and easier than wires — in the office, at home, and on the road. Wilocity has partnered with industry leaders to provide greater wireless performance in short-range wireless networking, docking, point-to-point outdoor links, and more. Backed by , Wilocity is born out of a unique combination of deep industry experience, success and passion for wireless technology, leadership in the Wi-Fi Alliance and all other relevant standards bodies, and proven engineering innovation.
