First systems engineering reference in the medical sector

Suresnes, July 8, 2014 – Keonys, a leading integrator and distributor of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and 3D solutions announces its first systems engineering1 reference in the health care industry with Theraclion, specialist in echotherapy for non-invasive treatment of tumors with high intensity focused ultrasounds (HIFU).

Theraclion was seduced by Keonys’ approach, which demonstrates the value of a centralized and integrated approach to systems engineering. This approach enables, starting from functional objectives, to view the system as a whole when programming and controlling a product’s automation. One of the biggest challenges for a company like Theraclion is to be able to innovate in a highly regulated environment and on complex systems comprising automated systems, robotics and electronics. “We developed a methodology that enables clients to develop together the mechanical, electronic and software components that comprise a product. Based on simulation, this methodology allows to rapidly validate a series of tests and above all to secure the engineering phase by replaying these tests for each new version of the product,” explains Jacques Bacry, Co-president, Keonys. “We were looking for a solution that would enable us to dynamically manage the development of embedded software and to integrate this solution in our processes. We have high expectations of the system engineering technology proposed by Keonys because a product like the Echopulse® must ensure patient and doctor safety and treatment of the highest quality,” says Sylvain Yon, VP Research & Development at Theraclion.

1 Systems engineering is the science of designing an industrial product by analyzing the objectives to be attained, the functions and the logic in the way they are implemented as well as the verification of their true behavior during their lifecycle by taking into account the physical components as well as the software that drives them.
