Enhanced Integration Between Oracle Mobile Application Framework and Oracle Mobile Security Suite Helps Customers Secure Mobile Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/30/14 — ORACLE OPENWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle (NYSE: ORCL)

With mobile technology playing an ever-increasing role within businesses, security continues to be a major concern for enterprises deploying mobile applications. A recent CIO Strategic Marketing Services and Triangle Publishing Services survey reports that of respondents cited concern over data loss and other security breaches related to mobile devices, with BYOD being a key contributing factor. While mobile holds the promise of better productivity and the ability to obtain information and make faster decisions, anytime, anywhere, it can open organizations to increasing security threats. To simplify secure mobile application development, Oracle is deepening the integration between and as part of the mobile application lifecycle management process. This integrated approach makes it easier for developers to create a seamless user experience, without compromising security.

The new functionality provides a single-step, design-time experience that enables Oracle Mobile Application Framework-based applications to leverage the Oracle Mobile Security Suite container protection services, including authentication, encryption, data-leak protection, corporate policy enforcement, selective wipe, and single sign-on.

Integration between Oracle Mobile Application Framework and Oracle Mobile Security Suite simplifies the mobile application development process by extending existing corporate identity to native mobile applications for a simple and powerful end-user experience.

Oracle Mobile Security Suite–s container-based approach provides users with a secure workspace for sensitive corporate data, and the suite–s mobile identity capabilities provide users with virtually seamless access to consumer and enterprise applications.

With Oracle Mobile Application Framework, enterprises can leverage their investments in the Java and/or JavaScript programming language to develop rich consumer and enterprise apps for smartphones and tablets. The enhanced integration with Oracle Mobile Security Suite enables:

New deployment wizards support streamlined processes for securing mobile applications by wrapping Oracle Mobile Application Framework applications with Oracle Mobile Security Suite in both and to create trusted secure applications by injecting policies for single sign-on, data leakage prevention policies, and data encryption. Once wrapped, trusted applications are available in the container on the user–s mobile device.

Integration with Oracle Mobile Security Suite–s internal API allows Oracle Mobile Application Framework-based applications to secure data at rest by encrypting all local data stored on the device in files or databases.

Oracle Mobile Application Framework is fully integrated with Oracle Access Management Suite, allowing organizations to leverage industry standards such as OpenID and OAUTH2 to enable seamless single sign-on across their mobile and web applications from a single service.

Oracle Access Management Suite can be used to control device access privileges. Device fingerprinting restricts lost or stolen devices from accessing applications without the need for mobile device management technology.

Oracle Mobile Application Framework applications together with Oracle Access Management support strong authentication. Access to sensitive features and data can be restricted by step-up authentication, including soft tokens such as those generated by the free Oracle Mobile Authenticator.

as part of the build process to automatically load applications secured by Oracle Mobile Security Suite into an enterprise–s app store, integrated with that enterprise–s security policies for identity and access.

“Data and application security cannot be an afterthought. Developers need integrated security solutions built into their mobile development tools — not solutions bolted on later,” said Chris Tonas, vice president, Mobility and Developer Tools, Oracle. “The integration provided with the newest version of Oracle Mobile Application Framework and Oracle Mobile Security Suite melds mobile application development and security together from the start.”
