White Ops Names Former RSA CISO as President and Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 10/20/14 — , a pioneer in online fraud detection, today announced that the company has named former RSA CISO, , as White Ops president and chief operating officer (COO). Schwartz begins immediately and reports to White Ops CEO Michael Tiffany.

Schwartz brings more than 25 years of hands on IT and security technology management experience. He comes to White Ops, most notably, after serving as the first chief information security officer (CISO) for RSA, the security division of EMC. He joined RSA after the acquisition of pioneering network forensics firm NetWitness, for which he was co-founder and chief security officer (CSO). In his new role, Schwartz will be responsible for go-to-market strategy and day-to-day operations with the goal of accelerating and managing White Ops– growth as it moves to address some of the most pressing issues in online fraud.

“In my career, I have watched the unchecked growth of the global cybercrime industry and the defensive and ineffective responses from large security companies and innovative startups alike,” said Schwartz. “Joining RSA as CISO following that company–s own historic breach, it was obvious to me that we as an industry were not only failing to keep up with the bad guys, but rapidly losing ground. White Ops is a rare company that, instead of trying to block the latest attack or technique, is attacking the source of criminal wealth and the very foundation of their success. This company has the potential to significantly alter the economics of cybercrime, and have a massive beneficial impact.”

Schwartz–s career has put him in a position to influence every aspect of the security ecosystem. In addition to NetWitness, Eddie helped to drive innovation in the Federal sector as the chief technology officer of ManTech and earlier as executive vice president and general manager of Global Integrity, as well as advising numerous early stage companies. Eddie drove defensive strategies on the demand side of the cyber security technology market as the first CISO at Nationwide Insurance, during thirteen years of government service, and for years as technical director of a key government InfoSec lab. Additionally, Eddie–s influence has extended to the establishment of broad industry policy and national defense. He helped grow the nation–s first Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) for the financial services industry and co-founded the Cyber Security Research Alliance (CSRA). He also has held roles on the executive committee for the Banking Information Technology Secretariat (BITS) and is currently chairman of ISACA–s Global Cyber Security Taskforce and a member of their Strategic Advisory Council.

“White Ops is focused on understanding the complex picture of cyber criminal economics and targeting the most difficult problems with solutions that will be effective industry-wide,” said Michael Tiffany. “Eddie has been a vanguard in his career, leading everything from critical global infrastructures, to major financial concerns, to trend-setting innovations and initiatives for broad collaboration. He–s an ideal person to help lead White Ops– solutions into the next stage and the next wave of major security innovations.”

White Ops offers the world–s first systematic solution for accurately isolating and eliminating bot-infected traffic. By applying the techniques of Side Channel Analysis across thousands of real-time user session variables, White Ops differentiates between a human and machine-driven request, across the full spectrum of impression and click fraud techniques — regardless of the sophistication of the bot programmer. This approach is vastly more effective than methods generally employed by legacy fraud detection services, which rely largely on historical data and statistical and predictive analysis to detect bot activity.

The White Ops solution is frictionless, invisible and massively scalable. White Ops– technology immediately detects and categorizes a bot even if that bot is behaving in a way never before seen, providing in-depth analysis to the customer while depriving malicious operators of valuable intelligence regarding how they failed or were detected. This, in turn, interferes with botnet operators– ability to adapt and evade, substantially raising the cost and effort of attempting further attacks.

is a pioneer in the detection of and systematic defense against bot and malware fraud, providing advertisers and enterprise businesses with the tools they need to eliminate fraud, raise their bottom lines and ensure the success of their campaigns and the security of their systems and data. White Ops– leading-edge technology combats criminal activity in a significantly different and more comprehensive way than any method currently on the market. White Ops differentiates between bot and human interaction in online advertising and publishing, enterprise business networks, e-commerce transactions, financial systems and more, allowing clients to remove and prevent fraudulent traffic and activity. By working with clients to cut off sources of bad traffic, White Ops makes bot and malware fraud unprofitable and unsustainable for the cyber criminals who ultimately profit from it — an economic strategy that will eventually eradicate this type of fraud.
