wot.io(TM) Joins the Industrial Internet Consortium to Accelerate IoT Adoption

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 12/16/14 — , which offers a data service exchange, today announced it has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) to help accelerate the growth of the Industrial Internet and adoption of IoT technology. IIC brings together leaders in manufacturing, technology, academia and the government in an effort to speed the integration of the physical and digital worlds for transformational change.

“A major roadblock inhibiting business from gaining true value from IoT is a disconnect between physical and digital assets,” said Tom Gilley, chief technology officer and cofounder of wot.io. “Industrial IoT has the potential to improve operational efficiency for organizations and drive revenue, but not until this challenge is solved. At wot.io, our goal is to enable data and services to easily speak to each other, and we–re excited to join other IIC members focused on making this goal a reality.”

Deployed in an open or private cloud, wot.io–s operating environment allows existing and future players in the IoT ecosystem to easily and intuitively fuse data applications and connected devices, regardless of standards or connectivity protocols. The wot.io operating environment lets application creators, system integrators, analytics providers, and hardware companies overcome traditional integration challenges and ultimately unlock the value in connected device data to deliver new service possibilities and drive value-added services. Scaling to billions of connections, wot.io provides an open marketplace that eliminates vendor lock-in for users.

“The IoT market is exploding, and the more intelligent the devices, solutions and applications that hit the market, the more complex and challenging connecting and managing all of the corresponding data streams becomes,” said Jim Morrish, founder and chief research officer, Machina Research. “It–s critical that companies with a stake in the IoT work together to help speed delivery of the promised benefits, and cooperating under the banner of an organization such as the IIC is a step in the right direction.”

“We are pleased to welcome wot.io to the IIC,” said Dr. Richard Soley, executive director, Industrial Internet Consortium. “With their experience in the Industrial Internet of Things, we look forward to their contributions in IIC work and activities.”

The IIC is an open membership, not-for-profit group formed by AT&T, Cisco, GE, IBM and Intel. Currently at 112 members, the IIC aims to break down the barriers of technology silos to support better access to big data with improved integration of the physical and digital world to unlock business value.

Founded in 2014, wot.io offers a data service exchange for connected device platforms. The company solves the data integration challenge for organizations operating in the Internet of Things and Machine to Machine industry by unlocking data value from disparate connected device platforms. wot.io partners with data service providers to drive business ROI through platform-integrated data retention, device management, data management, analytics, business intelligence and social media offerings.
