Power Conversion Technology From Semitrex Approved as Patentable Worldwide

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/28/15 — , a fabless semiconductor company addressing the issue of energy consumption, today announced that the company–s core technology has been deemed patentable on a global scale by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Acting as the International Searching Authority for the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the USPTO determined that Semitrex–s circuitry and gate technologies are patentable within all 148 PCT countries, because they are –new and unique over all other prior art.– This USPTO action is considered to be a written opinion of the International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) for each PCT country, meaning that Semitrex–s core technology is approved as patentable in 148 countries, including the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and others.

The ruling gives Semitrex broad patent protection on its core energy efficiency power supply technologies, which can convert mains power worldwide to virtually any lower voltage with over 90 percent efficiency (across all current loads) from 50 milliamps up, with less than 1 milliwatt of standby draw power. A pre-regulation voltage reduction technology that uses tiny silicon embedded capacitors to convert the voltage, the Muxcapacitor process is what sets the Semitrex approach to power conversion apart from traditional methods and enables high energy efficiencies.

Found in Semitrex–s highly energy-efficient TRONIUM Power Supply System(s) on a Chip (), Muxcapacitor technology includes capacitor cascading voltage reduction, gate timing technologies, capacitor gate sharing and low conversion ratio capacitive voltage conversions.

, a leading business law firm based in Detroit, has been working on the Semitrex patent portfolio for the past three years. James Yee (BSEE, J.D.), an engineer and senior patent attorney in the Las Vegas office, has been overseeing Semitrex–s patent work worldwide. Yee states, “The positive written opinion is an exceptional result. This is a real milestone in creating value for Semitrex–s patent portfolio and an incredible step forward in securing patent rights around the world. This acknowledgment of patentability will enable Semitrex to quickly secure global patents on their revolutionary Muxcapacitor technology.”

According to Michael H. Freeman, J.D., CEO and CTO for Semitrex, the company is taking a proactive approach and is aggressively protecting their intellectual property. The company currently has seven patents issued, with over 40 pending. “Our unique IP represents one of the core values of Semitrex,” Freeman said. “We are using our multimillion dollar patent budget to protect our innovations globally and bring energy efficiencies to power supplies and a wide range of applications worldwide.”
