VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — (Marketwired) — 05/30/15 — Editors Note: There are photos associated with this press release.

More than 16,000 TELUS team members, retirees, friends and family members across Canada are supporting a 10 year TELUS tradition by giving back with their hearts and hands and doing #actsofgood at more than 1,000 charitable and community activities during TELUS Days of Giving from May 16 to June 14. Most activities will take place today, with volunteers coming together to serve breakfast to the homeless, build tactile books for blind children and escort disabled adults to a community waterfront event.

Held annually, TELUS Days of Giving was launched in 2006 as the TELUS National Day of Service. The 2006 hallmark event, inspired by the TELUS team–s passion for community giving, saw 6,000 volunteers dedicate their time to 700 activities that improved the circumstances of those in need in communities across the country.

“Our TELUS Family has always embraced our heartfelt community giving philosophy – we give where we live. I continue to be inspired by their passionate and unprecedented efforts to extend a helping hand in order to build healthy, sustainable and caring communities across Canada and in the markets we serve around the globe,” said Darren Entwistle, TELUS Executive Chair. “Their collective desire to make a difference with their hearts, hands and talents is what TELUS Days of Giving is all about. Together, we are making the future a little friendlier.”

Since 2000, TELUS has contributed more than $400 million and our team members, retirees, family and friends have volunteered more than six million volunteer hours within our local communities. In 2014 alone, TELUS contributed more than $44 million to charities and non-profit organizations across Canada.

“Coming together as an organization to create positive change in the communities where we live, work and raise our families is an important part of who we are at TELUS,” said Joe Natale, TELUS President and CEO. “Thanks to the support of our team members and extended TELUS family, our partners and our customers, we are making a positive, lasting impact in our communities, having supported more than 5,000 community and charitable organizations to date. As we celebrate 10 years of giving back, we are inspired to continue coming together to improve the lives of Canadians and our communities.”
