Information Builders Customers Recognized for Analytic Innovation in Healthcare

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 06/15/15 — , a leader in (BI) and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced that its customers Butler Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee have been named 2015 Analytics All-Stars by HealthData Management, a leading healthcare IT publication. The awards, which are in their second year, are designed to honor those who have harnessed analytics to drive innovation and advancement in their healthcare organizations.

A. Thomas McGill, M.D., CIO and vice president of quality and safety at Butler Health System in Butler, P.A., was honored as CIO Visionary of the Year. Under Dr. McGill–s leadership and vision, Butler has improved patient care, streamlined operations, reduced costs and increased revenue via sophisticated analytics and reporting. Working with Information Builders, the organization revamped its BI system and developed a sophisticated reporting portal that connects patient information at an aggregate level and helps business users create their own reports and conduct their own analysis. The analytic processes that Dr. McGill–s team introduced enabled Butler to improve the quality of care it delivers to the community as well as demonstrate best practices for other hospitals in the area.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee was recognized for Project of the Year: Population Health. The insurer worked with Information Builders to develop its Custom 360 analytics platform, which provides actionable clinical and administrative information to key stakeholders. An important element of the implementation included mobile BI applications and clinician/provider dashboards that facilitate campaign improvements and display data, such as Medicare dollars distributed and spending allocations. Since the implementation, BlueCross has been able to close more than 422,000 gaps in care and produce approximately $3 million in savings.

“Today–s healthcare industry is an increasingly complicated space, with clinical, financial and operational data pouring in from numerous disparate departments and sources,” said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO, Information Builders. “Sophisticated BI and analytics platforms provide the ability to harness that data, facilitate data-driven decision making, streamline business processes and ensure that healthcare providers have a complete and accurate view of their patients, providers, facilities and finances. Information Builders is proud to support our healthcare customers to this end, and we applaud the analytic accomplishments and recognition of A. Thomas McGill of Butler Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee.”
