Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare Selects Tintri Storage for Best Performance, Price and Ease of Use — Immediately Reduces Operating Cost and Time Spent Managing Virtualized Server and Desktop Workloads

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/18/15 — , a leading producer of VM-aware storage (VAS) for virtualization and cloud environments, today announced that Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare chose Tintri to cut costs and improve its overall storage performance.

Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare, a regional healthcare provider in the western suburbs of Chicago offering specialized medical services and innovative programming, is one of the largest integrated health systems in the state. Due to changes in healthcare laws and increased focus on patient-centered care, Edward-Elmhurst needed a more flexible and efficient infrastructure — but their SAN storage was holding them back.

“In addition to needing more capacity for all of our initiatives, we were also getting ready to refresh some of our aging storage technology,” said Don Fosen, Director of Technology at Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare. “But we didn–t want to bring something in that was just cheaper — it had to be cheaper AND better.”

Fosen and his team started looking at options to replace aging storage systems, including Tintri storage and several all-flash solutions. After reviewing the alternatives, Tintri emerged as the leading candidate based on ease-of-use, price and performance.

“I rely on my team to keep an eye on the market and bring forth new technologies that would be a good fit for our organization,” said Fosen. “The Tintri demo was extremely persuasive and our people got really excited about the solution. One of our star IT team members walked out of the Tintri demo and said, –This is something that we are going to be able to use on day-one. It–s easy to use, and it brings a lot of features that are extremely compelling.–“

Fosen and his team have now deployed T620, T650, T820, T880 systems as well as and for the hospital–s two main datacenters. They were up and running in one day as opposed to several months, which their previous vendor required. Other recognized benefits include:

Elimination of requirements for specialized training to operate Tintri systems

Easy access to key storage metrics

Greatly improved storage performance for virtual desktops

“Our business is changing so rapidly, it–s just crazy,” said Fosen. “Being able to adapt and move quickly is a huge advantage that we have gotten from Tintri. The tight integration and adaptability between VMware and Tintri, the amazing ease-of-use of the Tintri platform and the attractive ROI are all big advantages for us.”
