CoverMyMeds Launches Ruby on Rails Crossover Program; Will Hire 20 Developers in First Class of Recruits

COLUMBUS, OH — (Marketwired) — 07/07/15 — CoverMyMeds, one of the nation–s fastest growing health care information technology companies, today announced an elite program for experienced web developers interested in accelerating their careers at CoverMyMeds and being paid to learn the Ruby programming language.

“We–re growing rapidly and can–t fill our web-developer positions quickly enough,” said Alan Gilbert, VP of Engineering at CoverMyMeds. Adding, “Ohio has a large community of talented web developers, but many were brought up on .NET and Java. So we asked ourselves, why don–t we teach them Ruby? This program provides a great way for developers to make what would otherwise be a difficult career transition.”

CoverMyMeds announced the program by way of a massive wallscape advertisement visible throughout Columbus. More than 160 feet tall, the 9,000 square foot display is thought to be the world–s largest Ruby logo ever printed, and will be seen by more than 350,000 motorists per day. The wallscape invites Java developers to have “a better cup of coffee” by learning Ruby on Rails at CoverMyMeds.

“We–re doubling down on the idea that great people can learn new technologies,” said Gilbert, “This is an opportunity for developers to make the jump to a technology stack that is increasingly viewed as the future of the Internet.”

Ruby on Rails is one of the hottest technologies for building the economy–s next generation of companies. Already used extensively by Silicon Valley–s consumer Internet companies, the technology is ideal for building cloud-based services in healthcare IT.

CoverMyMeds, consistently ranked one of the best places to work, has offices in Columbus and Northeast Ohio. The Ruby Crossover Program creates 20 new jobs in its inaugural class, and adds to CoverMyMeds– extensive career options, including a successful co-op program for engineering students.

“Talented developers who want to work on large-scale Internet technology don–t need to move to the West Coast,” said Matt Scantland, a CoverMyMeds Co-Founder. “We–re creating jobs for the best and the brightest right here in Ohio.”

CoverMyMeds employment benefits include competitive salary, paid medical benefits, an on-site chef, 401k contributions and a casual work environment.
