A10 Networks Virtual ADCs Optimize and Secure KDDI Cloud Infrastructure Service

SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 07/28/15 — (NYSE: ATEN), a technology leader in application networking, today announced that telecommunications operator KDDI Corporation has selected its virtual application delivery controller (ADC) appliance, the A10 vThunder ADC, as the preferred application delivery controller for its corporate cloud infrastructure KDDI Cloud Platform Service (KCPS). Starting July 30, customers subscribing to KCPS will be able to benefit from vThunder ADC features, including server load balancing, global server load balancing (GSLB), DDoS Protection, high density multi-tenancy and more with the award-winning high-performance ACOS technology platform.

KCPS is a highly flexible, quality cloud infrastructure service that can be used as a public, private or hybrid cloud, according to a company–s needs, to support connections from both the Internet and intranets. It offers an SLA level of 99.99% as standard along with a highly expandable range of functions such as a site backup, to ensure business continuity.

In recent years, there has been an increased demand for load balancers equipped with advanced ADC functions that optimize applications for a superior user experience. Until now, the “legacy” KCPS load balancer service required users to purchase additional licenses in order to integrate extended functions other than load balancing. In addition, the virtual ADC license keys embedded in each instance had to be renewed yearly, resulting in increased costs and workload. To resolve these issues, KDDI selected A10–s vThunder ADC appliance.

KDDI selected the A10 vThunder ADC as it provides a variety of high-performance features that bolster its cloud infrastructure service offering, while also enabling it to lower operating costs and streamline internal workloads. The vThunder load balancing and L4-7 ADC functions have enhanced both the scalability and flexibility of its cloud platform.

All A10 Thunder ADC solutions are equipped with A10–s award-winning ACOS 4.0, which includes the A10 Harmony Architecture. A10 Harmony allows users to quickly and efficiently integrate third-party services to their enterprise, cloud and service provider networks, with a full RESTful API designed for DevOps environments and Web-scale IT. The technology also delivers agile configuration of security policies, empowering organizations to utilize on-demand services for applications in different cloud consumption models. ACOS 4.0 integrates security with Secure Cloud Interconnect to allow hyper-scale performance IPsec VPN, Web Application Firewall and more.

“KDDI called for an advanced application delivery controller that met a variety of its internal and customer-facing needs, and we–re honored the company has chosen our Thunder ADC solution to support its cloud infrastructure demands,” said Sanjay Kapoor, vice president global marketing at A10 Networks. “In deploying the vThunder ADC, KDDI is able to provide its users with an amazing application experience that is fast, secure and personalized, while reducing overhead and time-consuming work processes.”
