ExtraHop Helps Tyler Technologies Maintain Order in the Courts

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwired) — 11/11/15 — ExtraHop, the global leader in real-time wire data analytics for , today announced that Tyler Technologies is using the ExtraHop wire data analytics platform to ensure the timely and consistent submission and confirmation of court filings made via its Odyssey File & Serve e-filing solution. With the visibility provided by ExtraHop, Tyler has significantly improved performance for its end-users while saving more than $150,000 a year in support center staffing costs.

Fourteen states and an additional 30 counties across the United States rely on Tyler–s e-filing solution to streamline and simplify the judicial filing process for litigants and court officers. The time-sensitive nature of court filings means that any service interruption or performance problem invariably leads to a flood of frantic calls from litigants trying to make a deadline or confirm that a filing has been submitted.

In order to grow the number of court systems and filings without having to significantly increase support staff, Tyler Technologies needed real-time insight into how their application was performing, how that performance was impacting end-users, and where the problem was originating. For that, they brought in ExtraHop.

“With ExtraHop, we finally have the insight we need to quickly resolve errors before they have to be escalated to the level of support calls,” said Jamie Gillespie, Tyler–s Director of Client Success and Support. “That means we can run leaner without slowing growth.”

In addition to using ExtraHop to identify and correct performance issues in the e-filing solution, Tyler leverages the platform to manage and troubleshoot a complex array of back-end and customer-facing applications, from financial and ERP applications delivered over Citrix, to web applications for online bill payment, to Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Apache. Before ExtraHop, managing the performance of these applications rested heavily on sifting through static packet captures — a time-consuming and inefficient process.

“With Wire Shark, we–d do a packet capture but it would take weeks for someone to read it — not exactly helpful when an application is down,” said Lance Gordon, senior network engineer at Tyler. “With ExtraHop, there are no blame darts. There are no packet captures. We can now troubleshoot in minutes what used to take days or weeks.”

“From the courtroom to the classroom, Tyler Technologies helps public sector entities across the US streamline their operations and better serve their citizens and students,” said Erik Giesa, SVP of Marketing and Business Development, ExtraHop. “With ExtraHop, they have the visibility they need to ensure the performance, availability, and security of those applications with fewer resources, resulting in happier customers, leaner operations, and better business performance.”
