A sleek, lightweight design, the new Smartcase is currently available to pre-order for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S4, with models coming for other high volume makers soon. The hardware and software technology is interchangeable between operating systems. Only the phone case molding and connectors are specific to a particular device. Initially, Smartcases are available in tan and black genuine leather (an i-BLADES exclusive) as well as soft touch coated poly-carbonate in black. More colors and styles will be available later in 2016.

The aluminum, durable Smartblades can be mixed and matched, allowing users to add a wide variety of functions to their smartphone or mobile device, not simply extra battery power. The Smartblades attach securely and detach on demand to the back of the case using magnets and a circular copper contact array (ACS technology). The copper array forms a hard-wired high-speed data connection using the case–s built-in MCU. The Smartcase interfaces with the phone via the phone–s port and will automatically identify which Smartblade is attached with no user intervention required. The i-Blades Smart App that comes with the Smartcase lets you easily manage your blades and added functionality. The blades are thin and swappable and can be used across Smartcases regardless of phone model. They can also be stackable.

The Smartblades are typically very slim and vary in thickness depending on the level of functionality (from 2mm to 9mm).
