Basho Technologies Announces Riak Enterprise Data Store for Startups Program

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/10/11 — Basho Technologies, the fast-growing storage solution provider and maker of Riak, today announced its Riak Enterprise Data Store (EDS) for Startups program. This program includes full access to Riak EDS, Basho-s flagship solution, as well as top-tier support and services for technology startups struggling with issues encompassing social, mobile and Big Data.

The Riak EDS for Startups program is designed to help new technology companies dealing with difficult problems surrounding the storing and processing of data by providing effective, discounted technology. The challenges this program solves — sometimes called “Big Data” issues — are complex, can encompass large data volumes and myriad types and sources of data. Traditional solutions to these problems can be expensive and time consuming to deploy. Riak EDS for Startups offers firms a fast-to-deploy solution to difficult challenges, such as managing global social networking data, massively multi-player gaming data, or accepting mobile payments from a variety of devices in real time, and at only 10 percent of the cost of a typical enterprise deployment license fee.

“We initially signed up for Riak EDS for Startups to use Riak EDS-s amazing cross-data center replication, which paid for itself immediately by making our upcoming data center switch painless,” said Coda Hale, infrastructure architect at Yammer, a leading enterprise social collaboration platform. “Since then, we-ve had access to what has been, quite frankly, the best support I-ve ever seen from a company of any size. Basho has the same standard for support that it does for its engineering: peerless.”

“Not only has Riak EDS helped us build a highly available, distributed data store underneath our applications, but the ability to work closely with Basho team members is just as valuable,” said Mark Hall, CEO at VodPod, a social video sharing company based in San Francisco.

“As a startup company ourselves, we feel it is important to support the efforts of innovative technologies tackling difficult data issues while looking to aggressively scale operations,” said Don Rippert, president and CEO of Basho Technologies. “Many of these startups have the same data issues as the world-s largest enterprises, but lack the personnel and financial resources to manage them without a program like Riak EDS for Startups.”
