SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN — (Marketwired) — 08/02/16 — International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD) (TSX: IRD) announced today the award of a USD $3,377,105 contract (total dollar value including any renewal options) from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The initial term of this agreement is four (4) years with an option to renew for one additional year. The purpose of this contract is to maintain and maximize performance of the statewide Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) network that is used to protect the highway infrastructure from damage caused by overweight trucks, to enforce size and weight laws, and to meet federal goals and requirements.
IDOT currently has thirty-four active IRD WIM systems that will be covered under this agreement. IRD will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and service activities of the in-road scales and sensors, roadside electronics, queue detection and camera surveillance systems, and PrePass preclearance weighing systems. This technology allows IDOT and the Illinois State Police to process large volumes of commercial vehicles by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their weigh station facilities. The trucking industry also realizes considerable benefits through the reduction of wait times, fuel costs, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
