TELUS Celebrates Royal Visit to TELUS Garden with Donation to Support Canadian Youth Leaders

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — (Marketwired) — 09/25/16 — (TSX: T)(NYSE: TU) – As part of the 2016 Royal Tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit TELUS Garden today to meet young Canadians who are making a difference in their communities.

To commemorate the occasion and celebrate young leaders across Canada, TELUS is making a $10,000 donation to Jack.org – an organization the Duke and Duchess will spend time with in Victoria on October 1 as they conclude their visit to Canada.

Eric Windeler and Sandra Hanington founded Jack.org in 2015 to raise awareness about mental health issues among young people. The organization is named in honour of their son Jack, who committed suicide at the age of 18 after leaving for college and spending months in depression. With more than 100 chapters nationwide, the student-led organization brings young speakers into high schools and universities across Canada to transform how students think about mental health.

“TELUS is committed to educating and empowering youth to encourage and mobilize Canada–s next generation of community leaders to reach their full potential,” said Andrea Goertz, TELUS Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer. “By inspiring important conversations regarding mental health, the young leaders of Jack.org are fostering positive social change in their communities and, importantly, they are improving lives.”
