Star Micronics appoints James Cassar as Business Development Manager, UK & Ireland

High Wycombe, UK, 5 May 2017: International POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics has expanded its management team with the appointment of James Cassar as Business Development Manager, UK & Ireland.

Star’s reputation and sales are growing year on year with a 16.5% unit growth in 2016. James will work with the UK team to continue to strengthen partnerships with retailers, resellers and software houses, in particular. Star’s philosophy to actively support direct and indirect customers via a strict distribution channel only will suit James’ extensive experience of 20 years plus. This experience covers the distribution channel as Business Development Manager at Ingram Micro (DC/POS division), Senior Product Specialist at manufacturer Toshiba Tec Europe alongside direct retail experience as Store Systems Controller with Perfect Pizza and 7-Eleven.

James’ appointment is the latest milestone in Star EMEA’s expansion plans that encompass major investment in the German market with the opening of a new Branch Office and innovative Retail Solutions showroom in the centre of Frankfurt. This, plus Star’s latest developments in the tablet POS marketplace with the recent launch of the world’s first USB printer to communicate with and charge Apple iOS devices, confirms Star’s leading position as a provider of mobile POS printing solutions. James’ in-depth knowledge of the renowned TSP100 Series will strengthen Star’s continuing growth in the traditional POS and tablet POS marketplace.

“I am very pleased to welcome James to Star Micronics at a time when the company is experiencing unprecedented growth. His business expertise and understanding of the POS industry will be a real asset to Star as the company continues to strengthen its presence within both the POS and mPOS industry,” states Simon Martin, Director & General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA.

James adds: “Star Micronics is widely recognised as a leader within the POS and mPOS industry. I am therefore very excited to join the team and look forward to playing a key role in Star’s future growth and expansion, starting with the UK’s largest retail show Retail Business Technology Expo 2017 at Olympia next week.”
