Got It Debuts Knowledge-as-a-Service Platform Powered by Machine Learning to Organize the World–s Brainpower

BURLINGAME, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/06/17 — today announced the debut of the first on-demand Knowledge-as-a-Service (KaaS) platform that helps professionals, learners and consumers quickly, and affordably, get personalized, interactive solutions to knowledge-based problems. Within seconds, Got It provisions a “knowledge-time” unit by using artificial intelligence (AI) to match a user with an ExpertRank-based expert, who has bid in a real-time auction for a user–s problem, to provide a 1:1 chat session, for a fixed time period, with a service guarantee.

Got It uses AI to compute ExpertRank through advanced machine learning algorithms that continuously classify each expert–s knowledge-time sessions based on numerous ranking factors. Knowledge-time units are sessions of fixed length, for example 10-minute sessions or 20-minute sessions, based on topic.

“IaaS made IT operations folks more productive, and PaaS made app developers more productive, but KaaS platforms will make every human being more productive,” noted Praful Shah, veteran SaaS industry executive for companies such as WebEx and RingCentral. “Knowledge is one of the most highly valued but inefficiently utilized global resources. A KaaS platform combined with human experts ranked using artificial intelligence (AI) can dramatically improve productivity for everyone. This could be knowledge workers who get stuck while working with financial, business or technology tools, learners who get stuck on problems in academic or professional courses, and consumers who need immediate and guaranteed help with any number of topics. More importantly, KaaS enables anyone with knowledge-based expertise to monetize their expertise in their free time through bite-sized knowledge-time sessions.”

Got It launched two services on its KaaS platform: , on-demand business help with Excel and Google Sheets for professionals in a 20-minute unit, for $3.99 to $5.99; and , on-demand science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) help for college-bound, college and continuing education learners in 10-minute units for $0.99 to $3.99. Two and a half million sessions have already been hosted on Got It–s KaaS platform, with 90 percent earning four- or five-star user ratings. Got It will add more topics to Got It Pro over time and allow partners to launch services for top consumer-audience categories on its KaaS platform.

“While turning knowledge into a service is no easy task, we have come up with a revolutionary approach to managing units of knowledge-time that are frictionless for both users and experts. We are taking a different approach than Search and Community solutions. While Search is a fast way to get relevant links, its results are not personalized to a user–s specific problem and researching links can take a lot of time. Meanwhile, Q&A-style communities offer users a way to post more personalized problems, but the response time and quality is not guaranteed,” noted Got It Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Peter Relan. “Got It is the only platform that uses machine learning to organize brainpower by ExpertRank and guarantee interactive chat sessions with vetted, ranked and audited, topic experts so users can confidently work through explanations and get personalized solutions.”

A 30-year veteran of Silicon Valley, Relan has a track record of launching successful social gaming, mobile apps, communication apps, and on-demand mobile services, and helped incubate another massively popular chat app Discord. Previously serving as founder and chief mentor at his incubator YouWeb, Relan co-founded Got It with Hung Tran at the incubator. Now, Relan is bringing together a proven leadership and technology team from Apple, Facebook, Google, Lyft and more, to help grow the company.

“Got It is transforming the world of human learning, problem solving, and knowledge sharing,” noted Got It Co-Founder Hung Tran. “Our proprietary machine learning algorithm is the AI heart of the platform: It uses a number of intrinsic capability measures and external indicators of capability to calculate ExpertRank to organize the world–s brainpower. Plus, our AI auditing capabilities enable a full understanding of the conversation between the user and the expert — providing an enormous training set for our soon-to-be-released chatbots.”

Building Early Product Success into an Optimized Platform
Got It leveraged usage trends and extensive feedback from more than two and a half million completed 10 minute knowledge-time sessions on its top-ranked STEM study help app, Got It Study for iOS and Android, to refine the underlying KaaS platform. While initial sessions focused on core science and math problems, it became clear that users were turning to Got It to help them tackle all types of important and pressing knowledge problems, including business problems now handled in Got It Pro.

Got It allows any Got It or partner service built on the KaaS platform to:

Deliver an intuitive way for users to quickly upload a file or photo of their toughest, most pressing knowledge problem to get personalized help when they get stuck, in any topic.

Instantly match users with real experts who can help them learn how to solve their specific problem via 10- or 20-minute, 1:1 chat sessions.

Encourage users to ask additional questions and dive deeper into the concept or problem throughout the session.

Catering to a New Knowledge Workforce Dynamic
Since launching its first app, Got It quickly grew its user base to 1.5M iOS and 300K Android users who ask an average of two questions per week. While learning habits will continue to evolve, currently 25 percent of users request support in the middle of the night and more than 80 percent of questions happen during the workweek. The Got It platform will continue to expand its areas of learning support with its growing team of highly educated, certified and audited experts.

“Every human being — from a farmer, to a professional, to a professor — has unique insight or knowledge that can be useful in bite-size knowledge-time units to someone else at some point or another. Our vision is to bring together an unrivaled pool of global brainpower and make it easy, and affordable, for anyone to tap into that brainpower by asking any question — anytime, anywhere,” continued Relan.

While more than 250,000 people have applied, only 12,000 made it through Got It–s extensive vetting training and auditing processes to become active experts with a valid ExpertRank. They come from 70+ countries and various professions and backgrounds — from engineers, business owners, product managers, graduate students and teachers, to stay-at-home parents, half of whom who use Got It as their primary source of income.

To date, Got It experts have provided 2.5 million explanations to supplement their income help others learn new skills. Got It uses AI to actively monitor every study session and also enforces human auditing to ensure quality. Its zero-tolerance policy immediately suspends an expert–s account if he/she provides the wrong explanations, gives answers without explanations or shares personal information.
