Compugen Wins Sustainability Partner of the Year Award in 2011 Microsoft Partner Network IMPACT Awards

TORONTO, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 12/09/11 — Compugen announced today that it has been selected as the winner in the Sustainability Partner of the Year category at the 2011 Microsoft Partner Network IMPACT Awards. The ninth annual IMPACT Awards recognize excellence across the large and diverse community of Microsoft-s Canadian technology partners. The winners were announced at an award ceremony in Toronto on November 30, 2011.

“Our annual IMPACT Awards celebrate the great work done in the Partner Community to help customers respond to their business challenges through the benefits of technology,” said Eric Gales, President of Microsoft Canada Inc. “Technology partners like Compugen are always finding new and exciting ways to develop and deliver innovative technology solutions, making them true leaders in their respective fields.”

Compugen was chosen as the winner in the Sustainability Partner of the Year category for its innovative and comprehensive Green4Good IT asset disposition solution, and associated , developed and delivered by Compugen Finance, a wholly owned Compugen subsidiary.

“Green4Good addresses in a cost-effective and secure manner a growing problem faced by virtually every organization – eliminating the environmental impact of the disposition of decommissioned IT assets,” says Steve Glover, senior vice-president, Compugen Finance Inc., adding that, “We-ve been able to refurbish and resell 90% of all the assets processed through the program to date, resulting in only 10% being recycled and zero sent to landfill.”

The G4G program adds a unique twist, turning the net residual value of these decommissioned IT assets – generated primarily through refurbishment and resale – into assistance for charitable organizations, typically in the form of cash and/or new HP technology products or services. Compugen Finance reports that this assistance will exceed $300,000 in 2011 and that the program has already kept 200,000 IT assets from becoming -e-waste- and ending up in landfill.

Green4Good was built around the Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) program, which gives authorized partners a cost-effective way to re-license refurbished PCs with genuine Microsoft software, making refurbishment more viable by enabling refurbishers to compete more effectively against pirated software prices. It also offers customers assurance that the software installed on their refurbished computers is properly licensed and offers the same level of performance they expect when purchasing new machines.

In response to this recognition, Harry Zarek, Compugen-s CEO and President, said, “We acknowledge with pride the peer recognition that Microsoft provides through these awards, which recognize a number of significant achievements for Compugen and its customers. This particular achievement represents the work of a talented team of great individuals, backed by the whole Compugen organization. A special thanks to Steve Glover for his innovation and guidance, and to the marketing team for preparing the submission.”
