Varolii Raises Proceeds for FareStart Culinary Job Training Program With Holiday Chef Contest and Silent Auction

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwire) — 12/21/11 — In the spirit of giving, Varolii teamed up with a local nonprofit organization to celebrate the holidays with culinary flare and raise proceeds for a good cause. The aptly themed “Tis the Seasoning” event raised money for FareStart, a local organization dedicated to culinary job training and placement for the homeless and disadvantaged.

The holiday party, coordinated by creative event firm NKilter, featured a cooking throw-down between Varolii-s chef-turned-software executive John Nobis and Executive Chef Jason McClure from . Assisted by graduates from FareStart-s culinary training program as sous chefs, the chefs battled to create the best scallop dish by selecting two secret ingredients from a list of fennel seeds, prosciutto, habanero peppers, rosemary, fresh horseradish or Pernod. Ultimately, John Nobis was crowned the winner by judges Heather Cristo, a formally trained pastry chef and food blogger; Leila Kirske, Chief Financial Officer at Varolii; and, Robin Leventhal, former Top Chef contestant on Season 6.

Varolii employees also participated in several fundraising activities in the weeks prior to the party, including personal pancake breakfast deliveries in the office, and a silent auction to raise proceeds for the nonprofit organization. Overall, Varolii employees were able to raise more than $10,500 to benefit FareStart and support its continued growth and success.
