CeBIT 2009: ABAS in Hall 5, Stand A18 Highlights from the trade fair for ERP and eBusiness

abas eBusiness: Comfortable upgrade
With the new version of abas eB, upgrades can now be executed more quickly and easily. Application customizations, such as service processing or Webshop, will remain. Users are therefore always participating in the technological and functional progress of abas eB software.
The programming interface has been expanded to include many new functions and technologies. This ensures that investment security is always guaranteed for abas eB users.

Dashboards for data viewing
Each and every day, ERP users have to handle a considerable amount of data. The abas Portal supports them by providing new options for data preparation. The goal is to compile data and information that is necessary to achieve one or more goals, to consolidate them in a task-related manner, and to prepare and visualize them. In the abas Portal, so-called dashboards or key figure information systems provide the functions listed above, are easily configurable, and enable decisions to be securely made based on current financial figures. These financial figures are presented in an intuitive display format. In this way, the cockpit chart optimally supports those responsible for the corporate management. The abas Portal provides a web service that makes the corresponding data available. This information can be used and displayed within the portal and also outside of it. Using the programming language Groovy, it is also possible to execute more complex queries. For simple queries, the information will be compiled in a browser-based manner.
The portal now also includes a new option to individually compile an ERP command overview in a portlet.

Improved database performance
The new version of abas Business Software was able to further improve the performance and scalability of the abas individual database. The database scales considerably better with regard to the number of available CPUs (Central Processing Units). Read access is no longer carried out via the database server, but rather is conducted directly by the clients. Firstly, this lightens the load on the database, and secondly, it uses the multiprocessor more efficiently.
The performance of the GarbageCollection has been increased considerably to run more quickly and to be less of a burden on resources. This is because it no longer reads through the entire database, but rather only a segment in which a relevant number of modifying transactions was made. Manually starting the GarbageCollection, which is often necessary because of the large size of databases, is therefore no longer required.

New sales planning/revenue planning
The new abas ERP sales planning/revenue planning application now contributes to the greatest planning security possible. Sales figures for a future time period can be planned flexibly. Whether it’s one year, one month or one week – any time period can be selected. The application is even flexible for data yet to be planned. New data, for example, can therefore be used as a basis for planning, just as can data from similar or already existing products. Both individual items as well as item groups can generally be planned. In addition, certain client groups can be planned specifically with regard to the region or client. The actual values, however, always contradict the target figures. A comparison between the target values and actual values can be conducted quickly and easily. Since the plans are archived, even outdated values can be included. The sales planning/revenue planning can be constructed as a hierarchy. The new function range is connected to all other ranges of abas Business Software such as abas Corridor Controlling, for instance.
