More Than 40 Percent Don-t Encrypt Sensitive Data on Mobile Devices, Says Echoworx 2011 Study

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — (Marketwire) — 04/24/12 — Editors Note: There is a video associated with this press release.

A survey, conducted amongst visitors to London-s InfoSecurity Europe show last year revealed that 37 percent of this -security aware- audience regularly send sensitive information via the internet without affording it any protection. The research, conducted by Echoworx – the leading provider of managed encryption services for complete enterprise email and data protection, also revealed that 44 percent of respondents, who confirmed they carry sensitive information on their mobile device, do so without encrypting the data.

Echoworx is looking forward to seeing a big change in these numbers for 2012. “With 86 percent of this technology savvy audience using their mobile devices for business last year, I wouldn-t be surprised if this number jumps closer to 100% when you consider that more organizations are embracing BYOD (bring your own device), and the ease with which users can browse the Internet and access email services via mobile devices,” says Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO, Echoworx.

Echoworx will be showcasing mobilEncrypt ENDPOINT, an on-the-device email encryption solution which enables mobile users to send and receive encrypted messages directly on their smartphone or tablet.

mobilEncrypt includes powerful administrator functions allowing IT administrators to easily provision and manage employee devices over-the-air (OTA) through their existing mail infrastructure without having to upgrade or displace any existing mail technology. Functions include easy to use enterprise tools for bulk enrolling users, revoking certificates, key recovery, and password recovery.

Users can send encrypted messages using their existing business email address to anyone in their address book. mobilEncrypt users receive encrypted messages directly in their inbox, while non-mobilEncrypt users receive an email notification, alerting them to pick up their encrypted message from a secure pickup center.

Users can read their encrypted messages on their mobile device or on their desktop computer. All messages are received and stored encrypted on the device and are available for archiving. Credentials are stored securely in the keychain ensuring that the data will not be compromised even if the device is lost, stolen or hacked.

To see a demo of mobilEncrypt or to try it yourself please visit Echoworx at InfoSecurity Europe at Stand H34.
