iCracked Brings on 300th iTech, Cementing Position as World-s Largest iOS Device Repair Vendor

REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwire) — 10/17/12 — iCracked (), the world-s largest company, announced today that it has brought on its 300th iTech — trained technicians who can come to a customer-s home or office to repair cracked or water-damaged iOS devices including iPhones, iPads, and iPods. Each repair generally takes less than one hour and comes with a 99-year warranty.

A recent Square Trade survey found that Americans have spent $5.9 billion on fixing damaged phones since 2007. The most common — and most easily fixed — type of damage is a cracked screen. Yet Apple stores and carrier stores typically do not replace screens, and cracked screens are not covered under most warranties. If they are covered, the deductible can be as high as $250 per incident. By contrast, iCracked-s repair costs begin at just $59.

AJ Forsythe founded iCracked in 2010 as an undergrad at Cal Poly after cracking his own iPhone screen one too many times. The business model is simple:

iCracked sources only the highest-quality parts and takes customer happiness very seriously.

The company provides rigorous training to its staff of 300 iTechs, all independent contractors who are spread out all over the US and in eight additional countries.

iCracked also sells DIY kits to customers who want to repair their device themselves and offers an expedient mail-in service for those who don-t have an iTech nearby.

The company also buys back iPhones for a premium to both redistribute around the world and responsibly recycle.

Initially, iCracked focused primarily on college campuses. In early 2012, the company went through Silicon Valley-s premier incubator Y Combinator and began expanding its services to urban areas all across the world.

The company-s revenue is currently growing approximately 25 percent month-over-month and it has earned recognition from organizations such as Inc. and Forbes, both of whom earlier this year singled out iCracked as one of the country-s most innovative college startups. iCracked was also recently named to the Empact 100 list of the best companies started by young entrepreneurs, culminating with an award ceremony at the White House in September.

Before iCracked, owners of damaged iPhones, iPads, or iPods had to either trade in their device for a refurbished one, or visit a mom-and-pop style electronics repair store, which tend to vary widely in terms of quality and customer satisfaction. iCracked-s model of centrally training hundreds of repair technicians, deploying them internationally, and offering a 99-year warranty, brings a new, unprecedented level of quality to .

“I learned through personal experience that there weren-t any good options for fixing a ,” said Forsythe, “so I created my own. In a little over a year, we-ve expanded our team from two to 300, and we-re adding 10-15 new iTechs every week.”

“Apple customers are uniquely passionate about their devices, and hate to give them up,” added Forsythe. “The fact that iCracked can perform on the spot, in a customer-s home or office, gives us a huge advantage. We love keeping these devices in the condition they are meant to be in and look forward to continuing to keep Apple customers happy for many years to come.”
