New All-in-One, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Internet Access Gateway From Nomadix

AGOURA HILLS, CA — (Marketwire) — 02/05/13 — , the innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, today announced the Nomadix Wireless Connect Gateway (NWCG), an all-in-one Wi-Fi hotspot and feature-rich Internet access gateway that provides secure Internet access for wireless users. It is designed for smaller establishments, such as retail chains, restaurants, conference rooms, waiting rooms, or any location where visitors want to connect to the local area network.

According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, there are about 750,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide with more than 700 million users and about 800 million new Wi-Fi devices every year. Smart phones, tablets, gaming consoles, laptops and netbooks are only adding to this demand. The new NWCG addresses the skyrocketing demand for public Wi-Fi while providing a secure connection. In the case of applications that do not require Wi-Fi, such as network connectivity for a conference room, the gateway can serve up to 200 users.

“The unique quality of the Wireless Connect Gateway is that it-s more than simply a Wi-Fi hotspot — it-s also a gateway in a box, which can be used as a standalone four LAN port authentication gateway to monitor and control Internet access for guests and visitors,” said Nomadix Chief Commercial and Operating Officer Fred Reeder. “By combining a gateway with a Wi-Fi access point, the Wireless Connect Gateway packs a powerful one-two punch.”

While many hotspot devices force users to navigate through technical configurations, the NWCG is equipped with plug-and-play technology so that users don-t need to change their existing IP and other network configurations to connect to the Internet. Simple to install, the NWCG supplies businesses with a name and password page for their establishment, thereby providing patrons with fast and seamless wireless connectivity. Robust gateway features include easy visitor registration, marketing Web pages such as walled gardens, and a portal page.

When accompanied by the VP 20 printer accessory, patrons are able to use the NWCG in one of three ways: as a customer service courtesy (free), as a premium when a purchase is made from the venue, or as paid access. The three button thermal printer allows establishments to create time allotments for specific subscribers to the Internet. The printer can be programmed for a predetermined number of minutes, hours or days, at which time the VP 20 will generate and print a voucher with an access code, password and length of time requested. Access can either be programmed for use all at once or to allow patrons to use the balance of the prepaid allotment over a set period of time. Once the time limit has been reached, the access code is terminated. Reeder explains, “It is possible to have the voucher system pay for the entire system in less than a year.”

The NWCG can also be considered a revenue generator and customer loyalty motivator. Adds Reeder, “Offering consistent, readily-available Wi-Fi to patrons allows establishments to build their customer loyalty and retention. Because the Wireless Connect Gateway is flexible, it can be deployed to increase revenue through additional services such as providing authenticated Internet access and Wi-Fi capability to small establishments. Point of sale systems can also be included in the Wi-Fi or a wired network making this wireless gateway just right for the small retail service provider. It-s a win-win for patrons and businesses alike.”
