Coraid Demonstrates Software-Defined Storage in OpenStack Environments at OpenStack Summit

REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/15/13 — , a leading provider of software-defined storage solutions and a corporate sponsor of the OpenStack community, will demonstrate the power and flexibility of EtherDrive storage in OpenStack cloud environments at the OpenStack Summit, taking place April 15-18, 2013, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. OpenStack Summit is a conference for developers, users and administrators of OpenStack Cloud Software. Coraid, Big Switch Networks and Mirantis will also host a user reception at the summit.

Coraid announced on February 28, 2013, that it has contributed drivers for ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE) and its Coraid EtherCloud platform for software-defined storage to the OpenStack Cinder Block Storage project. The AoE driver enables storage access over connectionless, massively parallel 10 Gigabit Ethernet, providing superior performance compared to legacy storage networking. This driver will allow OpenStack-based clouds to integrate with Coraid-s EtherDrive® and EtherCloud platforms to deliver scalable, automated storage services. The demonstration will show how administrators can create classes of storage services, with different performance and availability characteristics, that enable one-click provisioning of volumes on demand.

The new drivers are available in the release of OpenStack codenamed Grizzly that was released on April 4, 2013.

Coraid redefines storage with its breakthrough line of EtherDrive and EtherCloud solutions. Coraid delivers scale-out performance, Ethernet simplicity, and an elastic storage architecture to handle massive data growth. Designed from the ground up for virtualization and cloud architectures, Coraid-s platform has been deployed by more than 1,700 customers worldwide.
