zSpace, Inc., Cyber-Anatomy, and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine Announce Virtual Training Center

SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/22/13 — , a technology provider that is transforming the future of human-computer interaction, today announced they have partnered with to provide advanced, interactive anatomy solutions for the -s Virtual Training Center. By combining zSpace-s 3D virtual holographic platform with Cyber-Anatomy-s 3D medical education software, students of Touro College will be able to advance their medical training and gain a deeper understanding of the human anatomy within a lifelike environment.

Cyber-Anatomy Med is one of the world-s most advanced medical-level anatomy software. Built on advanced engineering and gaming technologies, every structure in the human body was developed from the ground up in 3D, resulting in over 4,300 structures and over 13,000 identifiable anatomy landmarks. By leveraging zSpace-s integrated hardware and software platform, Cyber-Anatomy Med will be delivered in a realistic, immersive and interactive 3D environment, allowing students to visualize, create and experience the human anatomy in ways not previously possible. With the new Virtual Training Center, students will be able to easily interact, dissect and manipulate virtual anatomy as if using real body parts, creating a lifelike interaction, while significantly reducing the resources previously needed to perform such exercises.

“Our facility and faculty is focused on training the doctors of tomorrow by using the most advanced realistic tools available,” said Dr. David Lenihan, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. “The new Virtual Training Center developed among zSpace, Touro College, and Cyber Anatomy creates an entirely new approach to medical training and research by allowing students to directly interact with virtual anatomy, enhancing medical achievements and discoveries with fewer resources. zSpace-s revolutionary 3D interface enables this detailed level of realism, where students have the opportunity to learn and observe within an accurate and intuitive environment.”

“With 3D technology, medical educators and students can quickly design the simulations that improve their engagement and understanding of the material,” said Paul Kellenberger, CEO, zSpace, Inc. “With this new partnership with Cyber-Anatomy and Touro College, we are providing a collaborative 3D experience that significantly expands medical training, education and research possibilities. By offering an easy-to-use and life-like platform, medical students can easily visualize complex structures as well as gain the problem-solving experience within an intuitive and cost-effective environment.”

“We are very excited to be involved in this effort,” said Rich Lineback, President of Cyber-Anatomy, Inc. “Dr. Lenihan and his staff have established a vision to bring cutting edge technologies to the forefront of medical learning and instruction. We believe the zSpace technology offers a revolutionary improvement in visualization that enhances the students- understanding of spatial relations, and facilitates a dramatic increase in retention.”

Construction of the Touro College Medical School was completed in spring 2007 and provides approximately 75,000 square feet devoted to state-of-the-art medical education. The School contains amphitheater-style lecture halls, classrooms, offices, support facilities, clinical skills training facilities, as well as technologically advanced laboratories. The library includes more than 50,000 e-books and 26,000 e-journals, sophisticated virtual resources, more than 80 computer workstations, multimedia areas, and comfortable reading spaces.

Touro is a system of non-profit institutions of higher and professional education. Touro College was chartered in 1970 primarily to enrich the Jewish heritage, and to serve the larger American and global community. Approximately 19,000 students are currently enrolled in its various schools and divisions. Touro College has branch campuses, locations and instructional sites in the New York area, as well as branch campuses and programs in Berlin, Jerusalem, Moscow, Paris and Florida. New York Medical College, Touro University California and its Nevada branch campus, as well as Touro University Worldwide and its Touro College Los Angeles division are separately accredited institutions within the Touro College and University System.
