Calysto Names Veteran Business Journalist to New Chief Content Officer Post

ATLANTA, GA — (Marketwired) — 05/17/13 — Calysto (), a global marketing communications agency specializing in building awareness through content services, social media and public relations for the mobile and telecom industries, announced today that it has appointed Jason Meyers as Chief Content Officer to lead the firm-s expansion into the content services realm.

Meyers, who has more than two decades of experience covering the mobile and telecom sectors, will oversee a broad range of content-based initiatives for Calysto-s clients. The appointment is part of Calysto-s new strategy to provide a full array of content development and social media marketing services to its clients to complement traditional PR offerings and equip Calysto-s clients to be their own publishers to showcase their expertise and industry thought leadership.

“Traditional PR will always be a critical part of an effective marketing communications strategy — but the media industry is consolidating, which means there are fewer and fewer business publications covering more and more companies- stories, so less opportunity for media coverage,” said Laura Borgstede, founder and CEO of Calysto. “We are leveraging Jason-s experience to create and package content that helps our clients tell their own stories, using PR and social media channels to disseminate their content to their customers and other influencers.”

Calysto-s content services offerings are comprehensive, ranging from creating content for corporate websites and blogs to building microsites, bylined articles, e-newsletters, case studies and full-fledged digital publications, Borgstede said.

“Calysto is unique because of its concentration on the mobile and telecom sectors and the fact that we are insiders — we-re connected to the media and analyst influencers, and we have senior-level teams who have lived through the history,” Borgstede said. “Now we are expanding on those teams and our capabilities with content experts with the same level of experience — people like Jason and other former journalists who have chronicled the evolution of these industries.”

Meyers has more than 20 years of experience in the content realm, much of it leading the editorial staff of Telephony magazine, which for many years was considered the bible of the telecom industry. He also directed custom content initiatives for companies in the telecom sector and other industries as managing director of Penton Media-s custom media division. Most recently, Meyers oversaw content creation for a broader business audience as the executive editor of Entrepreneur magazine.

“Content is the voice of our clients- brands, and it-s critical that those of us creating that content have the background and expertise to tell these companies- stories accurately and completely,” Meyers said. “The best way for telecom and mobile industry companies to communicate their leadership is by disseminating consistent, relevant, timely and high-quality content — and that-s exactly the kind of strategy that Calysto-s expertise can provide.”
