zSpace, Inc. and Cyber-Anatomy Showcase New 3D Education Platform at ISTE 2013

SAN ANTONIO, TX — (Marketwired) — 06/24/13 — , a technology provider that is revolutionizing the future of human-computer interaction, and its partner, Cyber-Anatomy® Corp., today announced they will demonstrate Science Station, an interactive 3D educational platform for K-12 students during the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Annual Conference and Exposition. By combining zSpace-s virtual holographic platform with Cyber-Anatomy-s intuitive 3D anatomy, science and physiology software, educators and students gain a realistic learning environment and are able to personalize the experience based on curriculum and student needs.

The Science Station is a joint collaboration between the two companies and offers an advanced, immersive 3D system for K-12 students to learn and easily explore Astronomy, Botany, Chemistry, Earth Science, Human Anatomy, Mechanical, Microbiology, Paleontology, and Zoology. Science Station delivers a comprehensive package of detailed, interactive virtual 3D experiences focused on providing lifelike dissections of natural and mechanical structures enabling students to quickly visualize complex structures within a 3D environment and gain a deeper understanding of complex subjects and structures.

“Educators are under increasing pressure to explore new technologies and applications to further develop their curriculums, while reducing costs,” said Rich Lineback, President of Cyber-Anatomy® Corp. “Our collaboration with zSpace places compelling 3D educational resources directly in the hands of students and instructors, maximizing the level of engagement and development in the classroom and decreasing the resources previously needed to perform such exercises.”

Additionally, zSpace has also introduced its 3D platform to the Bullis Charter School-s new FabLab, a Fabrication Lab for the organization-s intermediate school, which includes interactive tools that enable scientific modeling and simulations along with equipment for robotics, sensing and digital fabrication. The Bullis Charter School, based in Los Altos, CA, is dedicated to offering its students a hands-on education focused on project-based learning within realistic scenarios and environments, such as exploring the human body in 3D. With the zSpace platform incorporated within the FabLab, Bullis Charter School is able to easily build 3D technology within its curriculum and provide students an engaging, interactive and personalized experience.

The zSpace platform was also recently featured at Mindbender Academy, a Frisco Education Foundation camp within Texas- Frisco Independent School District that offers new technology and engineering experiences for middle school students. During the program, over 400 students were able to use the zSpace platform to easily assemble a robotic arm and view a human heart model within an immersive, 3D environment.

“Every student has a unique way of absorbing information, learning and interacting with new material, especially material as complex as the human anatomy or microbiology,” said Paul Kellenberger, CEO, zSpace, Inc. “With the zSpace Science Station and programs like FabLab and Mindbender Academy, students can explore and examine 3D science models and learn within an exciting and engaging 3D environment that is tailored to their needs. By putting lifelike 3D science models in the hands of students, educators can not only gain a new cost-effective learning platform, but also offer an extremely engaging and interactive tool that enables each teacher and student to customize their curriculum.”

zSpace and Cyber-Anatomy will demonstrate its interactive 3D educational platform in the Cyber-Anatomy booth, #12062.

Now in its 33rd year, ISTE is the annual conference and exposition (formerly known as NECC) and the premier forum in which to learn, exchange, and survey the field of educational technology. The event attracts 18,000 teachers, technology coordinators, administrators, library media specialists, teacher educators, and policy makers. The conference will take place in San Antonio, TX, from June 23 – 26, 2013.
