Gokul Rajaram Joins Square as Product Engineering Lead

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/27/13 — Square, the company making commerce easy for everyone, has hired Gokul Rajaram. As Square-s Product Engineering Lead, Rajaram will lead software development for Square Register, a full point-of-sale system for businesses, and other products. He was most recently the Product Director of Ads at Facebook, where he drove product development and execution for Facebook-s advertising products.

Prior to joining Facebook, Rajaram co-founded Chai Labs where he acted as CEO before the company was acquired by Facebook in August 2010. Earlier in his career, Rajaram was Product Management Director for Google AdSense, where he developed software products for millions of small businesses all around the world. Rajaram earned a Masters in Business Administration from MIT Sloan in 2001, a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Square has an impressive depth of talent across the company, with a leadership team that now includes senior executives from Apple, Facebook, Google, Salesforce, and Tesla. In the past few months Square has made several key hires, including Rajaram; Francoise Brougher as Square-s Business Lead; US Trade Representative Demetrios J.
