Mobile Shopping App Zoomingo Launches New Back to School Section Offering $75 or More in Savings

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwired) — 08/07/13 — Zoomingo, the shopping discovery app that helps consumers find the best deals in their local stores, is making school shopping easier this year with the launch of “Back to School” and “Back to College” sections that lets parents and young adults find the best deals for their back to school and college essentials. Zoomingo-s analysis of typical back to school shopping lists shows that an average shopper will save at least $75 at the leading office supply chains by using the Zoomingo shopping app.

Designed to find the best local sales, the new feature covers everything from clothing to school supplies and dorm room needs, making it the only app to track sales for all the essential categories for back to school shopping. With Zoomingo-s new school shopping feature, shoppers can easily discover the best sales in both back to school and back to college categories. In addition, sales are organized by store, which include top department stores such as Macy-s, Target, Walmart and Kohl-s as well as school and office supply chains such as Staples, OfficeMax and Office Depot

“According to a recent National Retail Federation survey, 8 out of 10 shoppers will change their Back to School shopping plans in some way because of current economic conditions with a reduction of spend to $634,” said Shirish Nadkarni, CEO and co-founder of Zoomingo. “Zoomingo can be an essential shopping companion for parents and young adults alike as they get the best value for their hard earned dollars.”

Zoomingo, a top ten app on the Apple App Store with currently more than one million users, tracks sales at more than 70,000 local retail outlets across the nation from the top 100 retailers. The Zoomingo community actively curates the best local deals enabling Zoomingo to personalize the best deals to the consumer-s shopping preferences. While at the mall, Zoomingo alerts them of the best deals and reminds them of items that they have saved to their shopping list.

Zoomingo is available for download free of charge in both the Apple AppStore and Google Play. For more information on Zoomingo, please visit us at , on Facebook at , and on Twitter via @Zoomingo.

Zoomingo was co-founded by Krishnan Seshadrinathan and Shirish Nadkarni, who also co-founded Livemocha, the world-s largest language learning website with more than 15 million users. Nadkarni also founded mobile email pioneer TeamOn, which was acquired by RIM in 2002. Nadkarni left Livemocha in 2011 and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with his wife — an avid shopper. The experience of going from one store to another in the mall to find interesting things on sale quickly became tedious. Often, his wife might find an item, but not buy it because she wasn-t sure if there was something similar that was cheaper in another store. As a self-described “typical male shopper,” Nadkarni found the process time-consuming and frustrating, and searched for an app to help. Price comparison apps weren-t always reliable, and retailer mobile apps were geared to making online purchases. Nadkarni knew there had to be a better way — and the idea of Zoomingo was born.
