CRU(R) Introduces High-End Thunderbolt(TM) Storage Enclosure for Videographers, Engineers, Government Agencies, and Other Big Data Users

VANCOUVER, WA — (Marketwired) — 08/13/13 — CRU, the pioneer in rugged, removable storage solutions is introducing the CRU RTX800-TR storage enclosure, ideal for applications that require fast access to large amounts of data. The RTX800-TR enclosure is a high-capacity, high-performance tower with Thunderbolt connectivity, making it ideal for video editing and other applications relying on high-speed interaction with large datasets.

“I-m pleased to add the RTX800-TR enclosure to our array of tower storage devices,” said Randal Barber, President and CEO of CRU. “Frontrunners in photography, video, forensics, and IT rely on our RTX products to secure and work with their data. Adding Thunderbolt capability to our lineup will be welcomed by those who require the fastest data throughput, especially important for editing video or running simulations with large datasets.”

The rugged RTX800-TR tower includes dual Thunderbolt ports (with support for DisplayPort and daisy-chaining), and houses eight 3.5-inch SAS or SATA hard disk drives in rugged CRU TrayFree Bays, rated for over 25,000 insertions, providing up to 32 TB of storage with today-s hard drive capacities.

The RTX800-TR tower also incorporates the ATTO Technology ThunderStream SC 3808E RAID adapter to deliver reliable, high-speed I/O. With the ATTO adapter, the RTX800-TR tower can be configured for RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10; the RTX800-TR tower also includes the ATTO Config Tool, a graphical user interface for configuration and performance settings.

“ATTO has been a pioneer in the development of Thunderbolt-enabled solutions,” said Wayne Arvidson, ATTO Technology Vice President of Marketing. “We-re pleased to help CRU create a powerful, high-end storage device for the field that combines our legacy of performance and industry-renowned RAID protection with the portability and ruggedness of the RTX800-TR enclosure.”

The RTX800-TR tower, has a suggested retail price of $2299, is certified by both Intel® and Apple® and is available today from CRU distributors and resellers.

“Thunderbolt delivers unparalleled performance to those who need fast access to large amounts of data,” said Jason Ziller, Intel-s director of Thunderbolt Marketing. “Products such as the CRU RTX800-TR storage tower help highlight what Thunderbolt makes possible.”

CRU is also shipping its USB 3.0 RTX products, the RTX 22x and 43x series, which provide high-speed USB 3.0 connectivity options for two- and four-bay RAID and JBOD SATA storage requirements.
