One Source Networks Expands Network to Enable IP-Based Communications, Increase Global Footprint

AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwired) — 08/27/13 — One Source Networks (OSN), the cloud and managed services partner of choice for large enterprises, announced today that it will be deploying Sonus Networks- SBC 5210 Session Border Controllers as part of its global network expansion across five new Points of Presence (PoPs) in North and South America, Asia and Europe.

The new PoPs in Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles and a key Latin American hub city will integrate with OSN-s current footprint and enable the company to grow its global reach through interconnection with leading regional carriers, improve its cost base and expand service capabilities for its customers.

To proactively address growing customer demand for end-to-end IP-based communication services, One Source Networks needed a Session Border Controller solution that offered advanced Unified Communications capabilities, could be deployed globally in a modular fashion, and would scale with changing business requirements. OSN chose the Sonus SBC 5210, which is part of the Sonus SBC 5200 Series that delivers industry-leading performance and session capacity of up to 64,000 sessions.

“We are excited about how our customers will benefit from OSN-s expanded global presence,” stated Ernest Cunningham, CEO, One Source Networks. “We serve the large enterprise sector and our customers consistently require solutions deployed on a global scale, from call centers in Asia using our International Toll Free Services to global managed networks delivered across multiple continents. Our new global PoPs, equipped with the SBC 5210 capabilities, and expanded carrier interconnects will ensure that traffic reaches its required destination quickly, and will lay the foundation for our developments in Unified Communications in the near future.”

According to a January 2013 Webtorials report “Enterprises Place 2013 Unified Communications Bets,” three out of four enterprises have fully or partially deployed UC environments. One of the fastest growing UC platforms is Microsoft Lync, however many SBCs are unable to support the solution. “Support for Microsoft Lync, as well as HD voice, was a key requirement for the deployment and support for this capability enables OSN-s customers to easily tap into an integrated communication and collaboration platform,” said Jeff Betteker, Chief Strategy Officer, One Source Networks.

“The demand for next generation VoIP and SIP services is growing across the world, and providers like OSN look to Sonus for secure, reliable, scalable session border controllers that can support the demands of conducting business across multiple continents. We are pleased that the SBC 5210 will be an integral part of OSN-s global network,” stated David Tipping, Vice President and General Manager, Sonus. “Not only does the solution deliver the advanced Unified Communications capabilities that OSN required, but it is also highly scalable, combining the robust architecture of our 5000 Series, with a modular design that allows OSN to add digital signal processor (DSP) cards as network requirements change.”
