Jenoptik raises its forecast for the Group operating result 2011 to 40 million euros

On the basis of an analysis of the business development made with all segments the Jenoptik Executive Board raises the EBIT forecast for 2011. The Group now plans to achieve a Group operating result (EBIT) of 40 million euros in fiscal year 2011. This represents an increase of more than 35 percent over the comparable figure of 29.0 million euros in the previous year. Jenoptik originally had expected a Group EBIT of more than 35 million euros. The Group continues to forecast sales to come to at least 510 million euros in the whole fiscal year. With this new forecast the management expects this year to be the best in terms of earnings from the operational business since the separation of M+W Zander five years ago.
The forecast has been increased as a result of the very good order and earnings development in the 1st quarter 2011 thanks in particular to the high demand from the semiconductor industry in the Lasers & Optical Systems segment as well as the from the automotive industry in the Metrology segment. The Group EBIT in the sum of 11.8 million euros in the 1st quarter reflects for Jenoptik the very high level in the semiconductor cycle at present. In this sector Jenoptik expects to see normalization in the further course of the year.
The Jena based optoelectronics Group will publish detailed figures for the 1st quarter 2011 next Friday, May 13, 2011.
