Los Angeles Unified School District Approves Parchment Services for Use by Schools

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — (Marketwired) — 10/24/13 — Parchment, the leader in eTranscript exchange with more than 8,300 member schools, today announced that the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) approved Parchment-s services for LAUSD-s 106 high schools. LAUSD is the second largest public school district in the United States, and its more than 640,000 students represent the largest number of K12 enrollments in the country.

The state of California, where eTranscripts began and Parchment was founded, leads the nation in the number of high schools that are Parchment members. Over 1000 high schools in California already use Parchment to send transcripts electronically. “Using Parchment Exchange has saved us significant time and money, and it was so easy to implement. It frees resources so we can focus on helping students plan for the future and improve their lives,” said Janie Hoy, Director Student Services at Huntington Beach Union High School District. Just a few other California school districts that use Parchment to exchange eTranscripts are: Anaheim Union, Palo Alto Unified, Piedmont Unified, Vacaville Unified, and Santa Barbara Unified. And across the nation some of the largest school districts, including Chicago Public Schools, Detroit Public Schools, Phoenix Union High School District and Pittsburgh Public Schools, are Parchment members.

More and more colleges and universities are beginning to strongly encourage high schools to send students- transcripts electronically. “We use Parchment to increase enrollment efficiencies and meet or surpass legislation goals for funding,” said Dr. Annebell Nery, Dean of Enrollment Services at College of the Desert. Parchment-s open standards mean schools can receive and send to any destination and to other electronic networks, including eTranscript California and SPEEDE. That is why California postsecondary institutions like California State University – Fullerton, San Francisco State University, Loma Linda University, California Polytechnic State University- San Luis Obispo and Pepperdine University use Parchment to exchange eTranscripts.

“California schools were among the first to adopt eTranscripts when Parchment launched ten years ago,” said Matthew Pittinsky, CEO, Parchment. “We are so pleased to service LAUSD high schools, so they can leverage eTranscripts to improve efficiencies and processes. This will be a big benefit for both the high schools that send eTranscripts and the colleges and universities that receive them.”

Parchment () is the leader in education credentials technology, allowing learners, educators and employers to collect, analyze, use and share credentials in simple and secure ways. More than 3 million people and 8,300 schools and universities have used Parchment to exchange nearly 10 million transcripts and other credentials. Founded in 2003, Parchment Inc. is headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, with offices in Roseville, CA, Denver, CO, Grand Rapids, MI and Washington, DC.
