Glassdoor Announces Employees- Choice Award Winners, 50 Best Places to Work & 50 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in 2014

SAUSALITO, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/11/13 — , a jobs and career community, has announced the winners of its sixth annual Employees- Choice Awards, honoring the 50 Best Places to Work (recognizing employers with 1,000 or more employees) and 50 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work For in 2014 (recognizing employers with 250-999 employees). Unlike other workplace awards, the Employees- Choice Awards rely solely on the input of employees who elect to provide feedback about their job, work environment and company, via Glassdoor-s anonymous online company review survey.

The top five are: (#1, 4.6 rating), (#2, 4.6 rating), (#3, 4.6 rating), (#4, 4.5 rating) and (#5, 4.5 rating).(1)

The top five are: (#1, 4.8 rating), (#2, 4.7 rating), (#3, 4.7 rating), (#4, 4.6 rating) and (#5, 4.6 rating).

The Glassdoor company review survey gathers employee opinion on some of the best reasons to work for their employer (pros), some of the downsides (cons), and encourages employees to provide advice to senior management. Employees are asked to rate how satisfied they are with their company overall, how they feel their CEO is leading the company, as well as key workplace attributes like career opportunities, compensation & benefits, culture & values, senior management and work-life balance. In addition, employees are asked whether they would recommend their employer to a friend, and what their opinion is on the company-s business outlook in the next six months.

“Greater workplace transparency is essential to helping connect the right people with the right companies,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor CEO & Co-Founder. “Today-s workforce no longer prefers, but expects to have access to the information they want to make the most informed job and career decisions possible. With the Employees- Choice Awards, we-re proud to help people find jobs they love by highlighting companies that receive authentic endorsements from those who know the company best — their employees.”

“We are incredibly proud to be named the #1 Best Place to Work for the second time by Glassdoor,” said Russ Hagey, Global Chief Talent Officer at Bain & Company. “This ranking reflects not only the excitement generated by working in the consulting industry, but the energy behind working at Bain. For more than 40 years, we have placed significant focus on creating an outstanding professional and personal work experience that in turn has fueled our growth anchored in a mission of delivering results for clients and organizations around the globe.”

The lists were compiled using Glassdoor-s proprietary algorithm. Ratings are based on reviews from U.S.-based employees who participated in the survey between November 14, 2012 and November 12, 2013, and the overall ranking determined based on the quantity, quality and consistency of reviews. For reporting simplicity, the ratings for the Employees- Choice Award winners are displayed to one decimal space although the calculations extend beyond the thousandth to determine final rank order.
