Open Mobile Alliance Opens Standards Debate on Next Generation Networks at PT Expo

BEIJING, CHINA and SAN DIEGO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/18/14 — The industry leading standards organisation for mobile service enablers, the (OMA) today announced that it will be exhibiting for the first time at PT/Expo Comm, 23 to 27 September, at the China International Exhibition Centre, Beijing, in Hall 2 Booth 2233 and speaking for the first time as part of the 4G (LTE) China Development Summit on next generation networks.

Once again the OMA will be demonstrating how open specifications can help the mobile value chain within Asia create international interoperable mobile services. On Wednesday September, 24 at 14.20, Ma Weidong of Huawei will be representing the OMA at PT/Expo Comm and speaking as part of the 4G (LTE) China Development Summit. This must see presentation will address the need for a functional service layer within next generation networks to enable operators to generate the increased efficiencies and revenues promised by these technologies and how standards will play a part in this.

“As part of my presentation at the 4G China Development Summit I will address how the OMA is working towards standardization at the service layer to help the rollout of next generation networks. If we are to minimize the divide between network rollout and the availability of standardized services we believe we need to standardize the service layer now, so operators can start to realize revenues sooner,” said Ma Weidong of Huawei. “The OMA are focusing their attentions on the China market to demonstrate how OMA specifications can help many companies in China who are currently expanding their reach globally.”

As part of the OMA booth demonstrations Red Bend will show how every line of software code in the connected car — from head unit to in-vehicle infotainment system to all ECUs, can be managed remotely, over-the-air with 100 percent reliability and security. Leveraging OMA DM industry standards and proven technology, Red Bend will demonstrate its latest innovations in Type-1 virtualization and our OMA DM SCOMO based OTA software management solution.

The Comverse demo will focus on the roadmap of the service experience into the future, demonstrating how to accelerate service provider progress along their IP evolution path, leveraging their key assets to become an integral part of their subscribers– digital world. It will showcase capabilities that the telecom industry must offer to maintain viability: cross-device, cross-platform, conversation centric, multi-tasking, search within conversation history, easy group management and more.

OMA is internationally recognized as the leading industry forum for developing market driven, interoperable mobile service enablers. Through its participation at PT/Expo Comm the OMA want to demonstrate how OMA enablers help current members develop products and services with the widest possible global reach, as well as meet companies in Asia that would like to explore how they can use OMA specifications to help ensure international operability.
