Puppet Labs Announces New Programs to Fuel Ecosystem Growth

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/23/14 — Today at PuppetConf 2014, announced new programs designed to meet global demand for its industry-leading IT automation software. These programs are designed to help customers and partners successfully adopt Puppet Labs software and deliver on the promise of DevOps and the software-defined data center.

The three programs announced today include:

– The new Puppet Labs Partner Network includes multi-tiered programs to help partners deliver complete IT automation solutions with Puppet Enterprise.

– New Puppet Enterprise Supported modules will be available beginning today, including Tomcat and Java, with modules for Microsoft SQL, F5 and Arista slated for Q4.

The new Puppet Approved program makes it easy for users and customers to quickly find high-quality, recommended modules for specific automation tasks.

With these programs, Puppet Labs is extending training, resources and support to fuel growth across its entire ecosystem of partners, community contributors and customers.

“With more than 20,000 companies using Puppet Labs software worldwide, we–re committed to growing and supporting our expanding ecosystem to ensure everyone can deliver IT automation solutions with Puppet Enterprise,” said Holly Files, SVP of Customer Success. “The Puppet Labs Partner Network, Puppet Enterprise Supported modules and Puppet Approved modules will give our entire ecosystem support and training to promote the widespread usage of IT automation across the entire data center.”

The Puppet Labs Partner Network includes three new multi-tiered programs — the Solution Provider Partner Program, the Service Delivery Partner Program and the Authorized Training Partner Program. These provide training, resources and support to help partners differentiate their business and increase revenue streams.

– Puppet Labs Solution Providers help Puppet Labs customers realize the full value of IT automation by adding their services and product expertise to each Puppet Enterprise sale. The program provides access to sales and technical enablement, deal registration, and marketing materials to help solution providers build a robust IT automation offering while driving net new product and service revenue.

– Service Delivery Partners receive access to Puppet Labs deployment best practices, certification opportunities for consultants and ongoing support and enablement. Service Delivery Partners who invest in this program will be able to differentiate themselves from their competitors, increase their credibility with customers and open new service revenue streams.

– The Authorized Training Partner Program ensures that all Puppet students have access to high-quality, consistent training experiences. The program gives partners instructor education and certification, access to instructor and student course materials, marketing of scheduled classes on the Puppet Labs website, and ongoing education updates.

“Our clients are being challenged to deliver services to their internal and external consumers in a manner that is fast, efficient, and repeatable. IT automation is paramount to their success, and Puppet is a proven solution to automate the configuration and management of applications and their underlying infrastructure,” said Kevin Keuning, Vice President, Systems Solutions Group at Forsythe. “We are pleased to join the Puppet Labs Solution Provider Program so that we can help our mutual clients realize the benefits of IT automation.”

Earlier in the year, Puppet Labs announced Puppet Enterprise Supported modules that are fully tested, validated and supported for use with Puppet Enterprise. Puppet Labs is announcing the following Puppet Enterprise Supported modules:

() – Enables admins to install multiple versions of Tomcat, deploy web apps to a Tomcat server and manage configurations.

() – Makes installing the Java JDK or JRE simple across Linux and Unix. With this module, admins can ensure that the correct Java package is installed on all nodes under Puppet management.

(available in Q4) – Installs and provides ongoing management of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and 2014.

(available in Q4) – Extends Puppet Enterprise to orchestrate a critical part of the application infrastructure on some of the most popular load balancers in application environments.

(available in Q4) – Extends Puppet Enterprise to manage top-of-rack configuration resources on Arista EOS.

The new Puppet Approved program makes it easier for customers to choose modules for specific automation tasks and quickly deploy them to production. Puppet Approved modules are recommended by Puppet Labs, and meet its standards for quality composition, reliable operation and active development. Twelve popular modules have received the Puppet Approved designation, including:

() – Sets up Elasticsearch instances and manages plugins and templates.

() – Deploys a full Jenkins infrastructure, including plugins.

() – Manages the installation and configuration of Cloudera Manager, a management application for Apache Hadoop, on Cloudera-supported operating systems.

Over the coming months, Puppet Labs will quickly grow the lineup of Puppet Approved modules. The current list of Puppet Approved modules can be found at: .
