CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwired) — 10/06/14 — Today, announced that Black & Veatch, an engineering, procurement and construction services firm, is the latest company to achieve an incredibly successful high deductible health plan (HDHP) launch by using ALEX®, the virtual benefits counselor. Thanks to ALEX, Black & Veatch was able to enroll 68 percent of its U.S.-based employees in HDHPs with health savings account options — nearly doubling their enrollment goal.

According to Black & Veatch HR specialist Jennifer Trombla, employees were initially wary when the company decided to phase out its traditional PPO options and offer a new HDHP. “HDHPs are so new and change can be scary to employees,” Trombla said.

However, after engaging in a one-on-one ALEX conversation (which explained the new plan in plain English and clearly showed potential cost savings), thousands of employees felt less afraid to make the switch, helping the company skyrocket past its enrollment goal of 35 percent.

“There is no way for print material or webinars or any other form of communication to do what ALEX can,” said Trombla. “It was an excellent, excellent turnout. We were so impressed.”
