During Day–s 34-year career with the US. Coast Guard, he held a broad range of communications and information technology leadership positions responsible for acquiring, operating, and maintaining the myriad of advanced capabilities used by the Coast Guard to execute their extensive missions. He progressed through a series of increasingly challenging command and staff positions leading to a senior executive level appointment as a two-star Admiral, serving five years as CIO and Commander CG Cyber Command.

Rear Admiral Day is currently the Principal at Bob Day and Associates LLC, where he provides cyber and technology consulting services to public and private sector organizations. He is also Executive Director for the Commonwealth of Virginia Cyber Commission. Day is the recipient of several military awards including the Coast Distinguished Service Medal.
