Delphix Customer Molina Healthcare Recognized by Frost & Sullivan as a Winner of the 2014 CIO IMPACT Award

MENLO PARK, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/05/14 — Delphix, the market leader in virtual data as a service (vDaaS), announced today that its customer, Molina Healthcare, has been named by Frost & Sullivan as a winner of the 2014 CIO IMPACT Award in the category of Advanced Software Development. This award recognizes leaders that are enabling breakthrough new business models and strategies through the innovative use of transformative technologies.

“Frost & Sullivan is proud to honor the 44 companies that have won prestigious CIO IMPACT Awards for 2015,” said Jeff Moad, Research Director at Frost & Sullivan. “These visionary leaders are successfully leveraging emerging technologies not just to automate and streamline existing processes but to forge entirely new, disruptive business models. We salute their impressive achievements.”

With the recent updates in health care regulations, Molina Healthcare needed to improve and update business-critical applications. Existing management strategies for the organization–s 1.9 Petabytes of data impeded the significant growth that the company needed to achieve. In the next two years, Molina Healthcare needed to scale to manage over 3 Petabytes of data, and with the then-current requirement to spend 80-100 hours per week provisioning databases, it was clear that organization needed to improve their data management processes.

The objective at hand was to use data virtualization to reduce costs and increase efficiencies. Molina CIO Rick Hopfer saw an opportunity to streamline database provisioning with the Delphix Agile Data Platform. Since deploying the technology, Rich has seen benefits in three key areas — improved application development, simplified IT operations infrastructure, and simplified IT architecture.

“In streamlining database provisioning with Delphix, Molina found a creative solution that would provide the organization improved agility and scalability while saving money,” said Rick Caccia, VP of Strategy and Marketing at Delphix. “Molina has seen more than a million dollars in savings in 8 months — $6 and $10 million over the past three years in physical storage alone. As a direct result of the company–s campaign to virtualize its data, Molina was able to return storage hardware that is now superfluous, offset new storage purchases, and condense refresh times to mere minutes. We–re honored to work with Rick–s team to unlock their data for even more agile growth.”

Winners of the 2015 CIO Impact Awards will be honored at a gala event on February 10, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, California, in association with the 3rd Annual ConNEXTions 2015: A Frost & Sullivan Executive MindXchange.

The CIO Impact Awards honor enterprise teams and individuals that are enabling breakthrough new business models and strategies through the innovative use of transformative technologies. Each nomination is entered into one of eight technology-specific categories and evaluated by a panel of expert Frost & Sullivan judges. All eight categories are for outstanding projects completed by an enterprise IT team. CIO Impact Award winners are those projects receiving the highest scores from the judges.
