ANDOVER, MA — (Marketwired) — 12/05/14 — (NASDAQ: VICR) today announced that its high voltage Bus Converter Module (BCM®) based on the (ChiP) platform was named by the organizers of the Elektra Awards as the Power System Product of the Year, 2014.
The Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards, organized by Electronics Weekly, celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals and companies to the European electronics industry. Vicor–s ChiP BCM was recognized for its outstanding electrical performance that enables engineers to simplify the design and increase the energy efficiency in applications such as datacenters by distributing power using high voltage DC (HVDC).
ChiP packaging technology enables a new generation of ultra-high density, thermally-adept power components by leveraging Vicor–s world-class power expertise and manufacturing capabilities. The ChiP BCM converts an input voltage of 260 to 410 V to a 50V output at 1.75 kW, with 98% peak efficiency. With a power density of 2750 W/in3 (167 W/cm3), the ChiP BCM delivers five times the performance of competing solutions, enabling customers to achieve previously unattainable system size, weight and efficiency targets.
The award winners were announced on November 26 at a gala ceremony in London, UK. Vicor–s PowerBench® Whiteboard was also recognized, shortlisted in the Design Tools and Development Software category.
